Mine has been painted for about 1.5 years, nothing has changed. The trick seems to be to not completely sand down the OEM BMW blue paint.

Did you paint them yourself? If so, which paint?

I would leave these stock, and only do color change if you do bbk.

I would have to disagree. I bought a set of Stoptech ST60/40 for my E9X and refinished them in VHT high temp red/clear, and they held up beautifully over the course of two track days and two autocrosses. If that paint held up to that, street driving will never get your brakes even 1/2 as hot.

So you are basing this on 4 events and not long term.

Ok.

I don't know if Brembo has changed their process but I spoke to a tech there many years ago who told me they do not powdercoat their calipers to keep the integrity of all metals.

In any case, mine came out perfect. Have stayed perfect, zero issues. Had a body shop do them. I would do it again. I've had another set of calipers powdercoated and the whole process took forever. More resistant and "better" but I'm very happy with my painted calipers.

I'll probably end up having the calipers painted rather than powdercoated
Thanks for the info!

Agreed, and I like how you think. So far so good, but they've only been on the car for 7 months; no track events for them either. Longevity is tbd, but I'm hopeful.

Painted straight over bmw blue coating. Base colour plus clear coat. 4 years not a mark!

What are you basing your opinion on? Lots of people paint calipers with 0 issues.

What brake dust does over time to non-powder coated brakes and wheels.
