I think M cars already show these performance data in idrive. Perhaps its intended for other bmw models.

The design of the gauges are to the exact specifications of the gauges in the M3-M4. So for us in this forum the match is perfect.

I wonder if the PLX Devices KIWI wifi could work or if it is a BMW unique solution forceing people to bu the $350 hardware. The present M Laptimer is free, but I would doubt the will upgrade that app when this new stufff is ready to be shipped. I just love the M Laptimer, I am amazed that so few dealers even know about it.

Once BMW Group Release the iPhone app to go with the hardware I will do a comprehensive test of the analyser compared to M Laptimer app and my iPad Mini running DashCmd (DashCommand / Palmer Engineering) and Harry´s Laptimer.

How much was this?
I bet it was way more than running Torque ($5) with an ODB Bluetooth Adapter ($15)... Not likely as flexible either: https://www.google.com/search?q=torq...=2048&bih=1020 Oh, but you get a BMW logo! So how much was it? |

The price in Sweden is close to 400 Dollars. App is free but the hardware costs an arm and a leg!
Trivia: Just like the US did way back when they handed out kerosene lamps in Shanghai for free. But the kerosene was very costly!

I wouldn't know why not... (I'm waiting for my M4 delivery)
Its all ODB Info. Even the G-Meter. The layout/screens/dashboard for Torque are also complety customizable. So you can pick and choose exactly what data you want to display and how. You could even paint up a couple of look-a-like M gauges if that's what you really want... $20 for a totally open, customizable, solution vs $400 for a BMW branded proprietary one which locks you in. I know which one I will be using. Of course, the Apple fan-boys may feel different... ;-) |

I can't imagine it is that accurate for performance data vs a solo or Vbox. Since it's pulling odb2 data. I could be wrong but I have never seen anyone ever test the M Laptimer to see if it is accurate which uses the same info. The interface looks great though.

The only way this would be superior is if if the OBD2 update rate was faster than the $15 bluetooth dongle from ebay by a lot. I can only get 5hz out of mine. It may not be the adapter since that might be the max output from the car itself.

There are quite a few OBD2 Bluetooth adapters available for about $15...and you don't need to get them from "some guy" off EBAY. You can get them at your auto parts store or AMAZON...
