Jb4/e85 questions

So I pulled the trigger and so far got the bms intakes, jb4, and downpipes on the way. I’ve got a few questions for those that have used the jb4 regarding e85 use. First, with ONLY those mentioned mods, can I run an e85 mix safely on one of the “stock” maps and see gains from it? IE; map 2? Or do I need to take it to a shop and have a custom map done to see gains from mixing e85 with regular pump gas? Next question is, is running an e85 blend with pump gas bad for your fuel system/pump/engine without any other modifications? Wiill long term use that way cause any issues or premature wear? I’ve seen a lot of people say they run a fuel blend but most of them are either running a custom map or have modified fuel systems. Finally, if it’s safe/worth trying, what’s the maximum blend I can safely use of e85/unleaded 93 with jb4 without causing issues?

Basically I’m not looking to make this a full blown track car, it’s still my daily driver, but there’s a few e85 stations close to where I live (northern Ohio area) so running an e85 blend has been a question I’ve had for a while. Thanks as always!

I do not have a custom tune. Simply just JB4 + MHD bef and running one of the maps provided by Terry. I would highly recommend it.

The JB4+BEF+E85 route is really solid at almost 600whp with almost no special tuning or custom maps required.

So I’m a bit confused, sorry if this is a dumb question. I’m running the bms jb4 platform, not bm3. Is bootmod required on top of jb4 to accomplish this? By clicking on that link it explained to go on the bootmod website and download maps. Just a bit confused.

For heavy E85 with JB4 you need to flash the car, you can use BM3 or MHD, both platforms have their plus and minus, and both can flash the free BMS JB4 E85 maps.

I'm running JB4 only. You can run map2 or map7 with 30% e85, which is 4 gallons of e85 and then topped off with 91/93. Make sure you have the flex fuel connector plugged in located behind the top mount intercooler. The best part of jb4, if for any reason you need to fill up and e85 isn't available, you can scroll and load map1 or map3.

Read through this thread first: https://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54795

The JB4 by itself can support up to E30 fuel. However, you'll need to load the JB4_E85 back-end flash map if you wish to run 100% E85. The BEF maps themselves are free to use, and they can be flashed using either BM3 or MHD.

To recap:

JB4 = up to E30 fuel
JB4 w/ RACE_BEF = up to E40 fuel
JB4 w/ E85_BEF = up to E60 fuel
JB4 w/ E85_IGN_BEF = E60-E85 fuel

I just did a back end flash via MHD. Very simple process. Currently running the Race map with e40 for comparison and huge difference from standalone JB4. Next fill up, going to load BEF_IGN and e60 and compare.

Here's a link with all the info you need on the jb4+bef.
