After pointing out the error, I had a 3 way call with GM of a Dealership and State regulating officials in Tallahassee confirming as such. The GM took it to their Dealership Attorney who researched and confirmed that I (and State Officials) were correct. As the GM pointed out, that also means that they could charge 2x MSRP cost to some customers if they wanted (and a State also confirmed). End the end, after all that, Dealership decided to continue to sell at MSRP anyway and I feel sure they continue to blame State Law if questioned. One of the big issues no one is clear on is the cancellation. If you buy the say $6500 agreement, that is the only number on the paperwork that BMW will accept (so I am told). Yes, Dealer could discount what you actually pay, and for sake of argument let’s say it was $5500. If you cancelled a $6500 agreement 1 month in, you would be required to be refunded just about the full amount from BMW, so no one is clear where that extra ~$1000 you received would come from. Most likely it would come from Dealer chargeback and they would be out the ~$1000 profit you made. Last edited by IK6SPEED; 03-15-2018 at 11:42 AM.. |

I’ll have to look at my paperwork, but I just got a 5 year/100k Platinum warranty last August when I bought the car and IIRC it was in 4K range.
Edit: Just looked and it was $4849. Last edited by minn19; 12-13-2018 at 09:45 PM.. |

Im buying a 2015 M4 with 13K miles
Gentlemen.
I am new to the forum and need some advise. I owned a BMW 318I many years ago and now that my house is paid off and my kids are on their own, I want another BMW. I found a 2015 M4 with 13K miles. It's fully loaded and has never had an accident according Carfax and AutoCheck. I take delivery on 12/24. I have 7 days (400 miles) to approve and return for a full refund if I find something I don't like. I have owned turbo cars before and had them last to over 150K with no blown seals etc. I have modded my cars but don't plan to mod this one. I plan on driving this almost daily. I can't find any known M4 trouble spots posted anyplace. What issues should I look for in this car? I plan to have a mechanic also check it out. Can I get an extended warranty even though I am not buying through a BMW dealer? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. Thanks |

So I just finished delivery paperwork for my M550 (doing PCD in a couple weeks) and bought a "Platinum" ESC. 10 yrs/100k miles for just under $8k. Deductible is $250.
Felt steep (cost per year is almost as much as my actual insurance) but this is not a daily driver, so the 10 years seemed nice. I allegedly have 30 days to change my mind and if I get rid of the car before 10 yrs, I get a prorated refund. |

What few seem to be mentioning in here is that if you buy a 60month/100mile warranty, its 60 months from the in service date of the car, NOT 60 more months. So in effect you are buying a 1 year extended warranty for thousands and thousands of dollars.
The only warranties worth pursuing are the ones that offer higher month terms (84+) to actually make it worth while. The cost of the 1 year warranty upgrade is criminal. For a 4 yr plan I was quoted $9400 locally, which is just laughable.

That sounds like a great deal. Can you provide details on where you bought it from, perhaps even the individual that sold it to you?

Trading in my 2013 X5 50i
With 71,500 miles looking to trade her in for a 2016 50i with 17,800 miles and a list price of 94,000 miles. Needless to say it has every option imaginable. Vehicle was sold and serviced by the same dealer who is selling it. Driven by a woman who is trading it in for a new X3. Dealer is firm at $48,500. With an in service date of 12/15, I get the original warranty for four years or 50,000 miles to 12/2019. As a CPO I get one more year to 12/2020 with unlimited miles.
I want to buy an extended warranty beyond the existing 5 years for another 3 or 75,000 miles. I haven’t heard back from the sales guy. He wanted $4,100 for four years of maintenance to 75,000. Any thoughts would be appreciated. |

Isn't this essentially paying for an additional year and/or 100k miles whichever comes first though? I turned a similar offer down because I found out I was "overlapping" my factory coverage by purchasing another warranty. I ultimately decided I'd rather pay that cost right before my factory warranty ends. Let me know if i'm wrong please, as I've never bought an extended warranty.

I don’t know if you are wrong it all comes down to people different situations/comfort levels. This felt like the best choice for my situation, especially since I didn’t want to go through a third party for one. This is the only extended warranty I’ve bought myself. |

At the opposite end of the spectrum, I anticipate driving my M550 less than 3k miles/year. I guess that might change later on, but before the BMW I only had one car and it only got like 6k-7k/year including a road trip or two every year.
I ended up paying a bit over $7k for a 10 year/100k Platinum warranty at delivery. I look at it as a 6-year extension from factory, so something like $100/month for years 5-10 for some peace of mind. And it's fully transferable and refundable (prorated) anytime. I've spent more money on dumber things. |

I bet your indy mechanic can teardown your engine replace pistons, head gaskets, and put it all back together under warranty costs. I know some yall need that piece of mind. But dayum these are wild costs.
