Thanks in advance!

The MB will cost more to keep running. The M3 has three pedals. The choice is obvious especially on a BMW forum.

They are very different cars. E63 is possibly the best autobahn attack vehicle. Can gobble up long distances with ease at a high pace. It's comfortable, but can still hold it's own. Lots more aftermarket support than older iterations, but still not as much as the F80. I have a 212 E63, drove the 213 recently. 213 just felt much bigger and heavier. Makes me appreciate a bit more how well the 212 hides its weight. 213 has newer tech even than the F80, so feels a bit more modern. IMO, it's a bit too "video-gamey," but a lot of people enjoy it.

If there's any way you can swing it, own both for a bit and decide. Or drive the 213 for a few days.

To me, it comes down to what you are looking for in a car.

I had an '16 F80 6MT and went from owning that in FL to a 18' C63s I bought in Germany when I started spending more time here. My thoughts during an after the process:

Actually spent a good amount of time with the 213 E63s and was cross shopping that with the 205 C63s. Ended up going C63s as it felt more "raw" compared to the E, which I liked coming from the M3. While not only physically larger, the 213 is considerably more muted (as one would expect from the bigger more "grown up" fast sedan), but on a completely different level of highway speed. As stated above, effortless all day cruising speed. To me the E63s was just too big for what I wanted.

However, don't forget you're also throwing AWD in to the mix with the E63s, which was a welcome step up from a tuned M3 (especially in colder weather). Definitely not as tail happy as my F80 (thanks JB4 & BMS Intake), and less involving to drive.

I almost got another F80 when I was shopping, but really fell in love with sound of the 4.0 TTV8. A chip, and that engine will outpace most anything you generally come across on the street.

If you have driven both, and are STILL torn, then you may need to re-evalute your needs. They will give you similar experiences in terms of pure driving joy, but go about it quite differently, and the end result is a completely different animal altogether. You need to pick what driving experience you want.

While you may think I'm fanboy-ing over the AMG... I just ordered a new M2 6MT to get back to the manual BMW feel I learned to love with the F80.

Doubt the M4 will be slower, it is 400kg lighter and has much less parasitic drivetrain loss.
F82 M4s ran neck and neck with F12 M6 with carbon roof until 100mph due to this very fact.

Obviously it depends on mods, but stock for stock, the E63 should be faster 0-60 and maybe 1/4 mile. Dragy results for a stock E63 are 3.0x 0-60 and 11.1x 1/4. M3/4 (F8x) are slower. Google/duckduck/bing all have similar results.

Anything is possible with mods.
