The GT4 Build…M3 Edition…

Converting this to a GT4 build (M3 Edition) thread...

Well, after being away from the track for 7ish years, I am going to head back with the F80...

Prior to this, spent 15 years in the E46 M3 world...learned a bunch and had build the below car before selling.

PIC COMING

For the F80, the goal for now is the build a weekend / track car...here is the build summary as of August 2021

- 2015 M3 6speed
- MCS 3way (coilovers)
- Dinan sways
- full SPL suspension arms/links
- flms lower control arm
- Essex AP brake kit\
- Eventuri intake
- MP exhaust
- GT4 aero (splitter, wing, etc.)
- custom cage
- OMP seats (MS seat hardware)
- Schroth harnesses
- KMP diff carrier
- KMP steering wheel

and...

Ongoing, weight reduction plan...

--------------------------------------

Original thread:

I could not resist and purchased the GT4 replica from AP Motorsport - could not and likely would not spend the money on the OEM. Anyhow, ordered last week and it shipped / received in 7 days from UK. Great packaging to by AP to ensure that it traveled well across the Atlantic to SoCal.

I will post pics shortly to showcase the product and carbon workmanship. It looks feels really good, but lets see what you guys think...

More immortality, I want to solicit input (DIY help) as install the splitter over the next couple of weekends...so please any thoughts.

It did come with all the hardware (lots of pieces), so will work through it...should be fun little project. Will share more shortly, thanks.

Very nice! I’ve been eyeing this splitter for a long time but decided it wouldn’t last a week on my car, as I’m currently on my 3rd lip already.

Just looking at the hardware kit is already intimidating. I can’t wait to see the finished product!!

Alex from AP Motorsport is super helpful and fantastic to work with. I’ve purchased an entire S55 engine from him before!

That looks SICK - I just hope you have a wing. I had my CS setup with front rake and the bias to the front was wild.

Looks good! currently doing a DIY contraption myself and may end up switching to the GT4 variant if the extra brake cooling is needed.

I will be following this with great interest.

I actually inquired about the GT4 splitter from AP a while ago. They said I will be responsible for all fees, duty, and taxes if Customs decided that it wanted to be a dick that day. Scared me off.

That's not bad AT ALL. Was the full price of the product declared on the forms?

You got me thinking now....

I'm in SoCal too. I'd love to see the finished product when you get it on.

Yes please show the install process and provide us with some pics! I've been thinking about getting this gt4 rep splitter as well and that info would be super helpful to have!

Quick update guys...

Finally go to this and started the install process. This is going fairly a hands-on install and will require some handy fab-work

Spent a few min hanging the splitter today, have already had to make some minor adjustments. Also have confirmed that the lower radiate brackets will either need to be replaced with GT4 version (per realoem) or modified with a handy wheel cutter / dremal. Have an email into APM to confirm...

I will do a complete install write-up once complete, but for now...here are a few pics...

Any updates to this? I'm particularly interested in what modifications to the bumper you had to make.

Splitter is finally installed…fitment is awesome, well engineered.

However, OEM bumper has gaps and the the lower holes are pretty much PITA to line up…and the inside requires too many little fabrication points.

So…just ordered the GT4 bumper last week, it arrives next week. Should be plug and play at that point.

Will load pics of the splitter installed and do a bit of a write-up.

That said, if you consider this splitter; order a replacement bumper cover.

Doesn't the GT4 bumper work with the GT4 side panels? It may look out of place with normal M4 ones.
