Sounds kinda weird but I can't tell if my F82 has lost power or if the change in tire has tamed the tail end.
So I recently bought a F82 with about 50k Car was dinan tuned but now just has fbo and when I bought the car I got it on sport cup 2s at the end of their days. I drove the car around for a couple days on those tires and would easily kick out the tail end in second but now after changing to the replacement super sports I don't really get as much tail end play or wheel spin... (pause) Maybe I was just used to the slicker sport cup twos but from what I've read I should have no problem still getting my wheels spinning in second especially on this tire set up. So my question is if not the tire and I really lost power... what could it be? Boost leak? And how could I check for a boost leak or other diagnosis I have no codes showing either so yeah idk |

You have new tires with better tread. When my tires get to around 70% worn, the rear breaks loose all the time. Although fun, I prefer the feel of new tires.

Look at it this way.
They don't change tires during races because grip is improving. |

Well thanks for the ground breaking news. I understand the concept of a new tire just weird how a pilot super sport is that sticky compared to the compound of a sport cup 2 but 🤷🏾*♂️

Another factor is how the Cup 2 tires were used before you got them… if the tires had enough heat cycles in them then they'd start breaking down and losing effectiveness faster than might be obvious based on wear alone. Of significance, tires that have been used on banked tracks will have more sidewall wear. And so, your Super Sports may actually be much better than the worn Cup 2's just based on how they were used.
With that being said, I think the more likely reason for more grip on the PSS is that Cup 2's require a little bit of heat in them before the really start gripping. PSS tires will perform better at colder temperatures but once warm then the Cup 2 will take over by a large margin. It's very difficult (impossible to do legally) to get tires up to the same temperatures as on track so I can see why the PSS would grip better than Cup 2's on the street.

In dry conditions it's the tire temperature that is the bigger factor for what the OP is seeing and what the ideal operating temp is for a given tire. For example, in street driving I get better grip than PSS with my winter setup which is PS A/S 3+ and it's the opposite on the track. Also if you compare extreme perf tires such as Potenza RE71 and Goodyear Supercar 3, the former warms up faster which makes it better for autocross and the latter gets warmer slower which is better fot track usage otherwise you have the risk of overheating and chunking.
