Garage List
That if you rotate the iDrive knob really fast in you contact list, a vertical list of the index letters will appear so you can short cut to the desired letter in the contact list. Pretty cool!

it won't rev match if you're in sports+ throttle

Dude, I just drove my car, in Sport+, and it rev-matched. Mine is DCT, perhaps that is MT-specific?

My new M4 CP can get its traction down better than my previous M135i in cold/damp weather.

Correct. DCT always rev-matches. MT rev-matches in efficient and sport, but not in sport +. Why BMW doesn't just have an independent setting for MT rev-match that can be enabled/disabled in any throttle mode is beyond me, but it is what it is.

If you hit menu on the Idrive while already at the main menu it will show you a list of your recent activities in idrive. Sort of like browser history. So you can go back to something easily. I discovered this entirely by accident and was mind-blown that I've had my car for a year and just discovered it.

It's so weird, Porsche does just the opposite. My 911 MT rev matches in sport+, but not in normal or sport!

Today I found a 12-volt socket under the dash in the passenger footwell area. All my prior BMWs had this, but I thought that the 3/4er did not. And it is not shown in the user manual. I was frustrated because I always used this socket to power my phone. So I went looking for it and there it was! Very happy now.

Wait where? And why not use the one in the flip up compartment in front of the cup holders.

It's under the glove box, back just a bit and to the left.

Cheers

I use a powered phone cradle that I slip my phone into when I get into the car, and I HATE having wires dangling, or showing anywhere for that matter. So I route the cradle's power cord between the center console and the rug and then up to the 12-volt socket under the dash. Works beautifully.

Yeah - that's what they were talking about. Rev matching with the MT.

Weird, but not really.

Porsche are saying "I know you want to drive in Sport+ to feel like a racing driver but you suck so we better take over for you".

BMW are saying "You suck but if you want to drive in Sport+ like a real racing driver have it at - you're on your own kid".

Other way around. Original observation was about the DCT. My response in hindsight is confusing on its own, but I was referring to my DCT as well.

Yeah - Snappy Phoenix was not referring to your DCT, he was referring to your comment that it won't slow down as much as the MT. He was just noting that it (the MT) will not rev match in Sport+... so yeah - confusion all round.

Keeping stereo on with power off: I always thought you had to switch off the engine (one button push), and that brought you to aux power for the stereo etc. The problem is, that keeps the lights and other items on.

Turns out, if you push the Start/Stop button once (engine off), then again (everything off), then push the stereo power button - just the stereo comes on, everything else stays off. Win!

Cheers

One touch 'OFF' for fan...

A pet peeve of mine with all my BMWs has been the lack of a dedicated 'OFF' button for the interior ventilation fan/AC. I've always hated pecking the small fan icon button down until the the fan stopped and 'turned off'. I noticed in my F82 that there is an 'OFF' label inscription next to the small fan icon and thought to press and hold it down for a couple of seconds and boom - it turned off the the fan completely! When I press the large fan icon button, the ventilation system goes back to the settings it was running (for instance, if you had the AC going it will turn the system back on with the AC running again). Discovering this was HUGE for me! FINALLY, one touch 'OFF'! Now, if they would just put in a 'SYNC' button so the driver can control both temp settings when the front passenger seat is empty...
