Think of it, if the engine were blipped while it is connected to the drive wheels, it would create an acceleration surge. On a DCT, both clutches are dissengaged when the engine is blipped. On a planetary auto there also needs to be a brief moment for which the engine is disconnected from the drive wheels while the engine is blipped. The benefit of this is a much quicker downshift without jerking the chassis. But it is not as smooth as a slow non-rev-matched downshift.

The video below is a good depiction of how a planetary auto works. It also depicts quite well how much more rotating mass planetary AT have compared to MT or DCT (re our other discussions).

so correct me if im wrong.

All automatics do not rev-match. so my e90 325i slowly slips the clutch in when I choose a lower gear on the tip tronic. What about when merging on highway and and it downshifts two gears for acceleration, same deal? no rev-match.

The engine de-coupling from the drive wheels usually occurs at the torque converter .

I think he's saying that the turn signals are so bright any white sign in the vicinity is going reflect the orange light clearly.

Yeah, I’ve noticed they are extremely bright. When I lock or unlock the doors in a parking lot they seem noticeably brighter than any other cars I’ve seen.

If you quickly and ever so slightly tap the throttle on the DCT it will engage the clutch and creep like an automatic. Make reversing it tight spaces way easier.

That if you step out of the car with the engine running and try to lock the doors with the fob, the horn honks twice in case you believe you turned off the engine. Doors remain unlocked.

Mine too but thinking back with other coupes I've had they also didn't have handles up top and just on the doors but mine complains every time "I love this car but it's a pain in the ass to get in and out"

As much as I love the new icon dark headlights, low-beam headlight output is pretty disappointing on my '18 LCI units. Reflector style lamps need to just go away. Noticed the icon 5-series lights have projector lenses. About damn time.

I can stick the gas cap in while pumping gas.
If passenger door side is open. U can just press lock and as soon as the passenger door closes. It'll automatically lock the car.
