100mph-150mph the M5 is a beast whether that's a practical advantage is up to the user.

I wasn't posting in reference to that, just making my own statement, the F10 is the only car I've had where I thought the official HP was underplayed.

I like your point. I believe a member said earlier it my situation it may simply be a wash. There are no roads or highways where I’ll get close to getting above 100 mph on a daily weekly what have you basis.

At some point I may just have to try the m3 if I get bored of the looks and feel of the M5 and when the price point is better for me financially.

I said 100+ and 200+ even more apparent, I didn't say 100-200km/h only.

You are using a dead stop drag to make your argument, where a good launch is important. And I have said above in urban environment there isn't much of a difference between the two cars.

And even though there is only a few cars length in 100-200, doesn't mean it is close, put M5 against many super cars and they can only put a few car lengths too if only race between 100-200.

And M5 is actually faster than the Vette after 200.

If you guys are drag racing in NorCal can you PM me where you are doing this?

The only time I have done 100mph to 150mph pulls was on autobahn during euro delivery.

Even at a fast track like big willow I was only seeing indicated 130mph at end of the front straight.

Underplayed? You own a car that is most definitely under reported by BMW also. By a lot.

Underplayed means talked down (not sure why you put a question mark on that)

I said "thought" I didn't say it "was" as my only reference point for a 560hp car was that M5 and I'd come from a car with only 313hp so the step up at high speed (where pure HP counts) was dramatic.

Don't agree that the F80 is putting out more than stated as I do not buy into the myth that BMW gives people "free" HP. BMW charge like wounded rhinos for most things, yet the internet would have you believe they have engineers that can't hit a HP target, over shoot it by 50hp and then say but we'll market it at 431hp as we wouldn't want to compete with AMG.

Those very same engineers are then asked to increase power by 19hp for the CP but this task was given to a team that couldn't get within 50hp to start off with?

Hmmm..

Because I had a feeling I misunderstood you.

The S55 is ABSOLUTELY underrated by BMW. This engine makes loads more than 425hp. Most every dyno(if not all) I have seen put the car at ~400 rwhp, add in say 12% of driveline losses, puts you at at least 450 hp at the crank. Dinan for instance measured their mule at 470 hp or so at the crank.

Case in point, I raced a Mustang coyote my first year with the car. I was behind him, he took off then I did. It takes quite a bit more power to not only chase a car down but do it after he got the edge on you. I nearly rear ended him I caught up so quickly. That car is rated at 425hp (admittedly you have to drive it differently with the power up top). But evidence the S55 is above 425hp stock.

The M5 was also dynoed along with one of the AMG's and both were shown to be more powerful than they are marketed.
3:00 mark.
