MotorTrend has a comparo of the outgoing 1LE and new Mustang Track Pack. 1LE smoked it around Streets of Willow by 3+ secs. 1LE was also much quicker than Boss 302 around VIR during C/D Lightning Lap. So I don't get this "live your life quarter mile at time" comment. GM has said numerous times the new SS equals outgoing 1LE performance levels.

Like i told a friend Ford was behind; they had the challenge of having the new gen mustang beat the current gen Camaro (which it cannot) then try to beat a new Gen Camaro that at the time was not released. Same thing applies to the GT350/R; beat the current Z28 then beat the new one

http://fastestlaps.com/tracks/willow...of_willow.html Camaro SS 1LE - 1:22.70 M4 - 1:23.73 I'm surprised you found a 1LE car in Germany to race. There appears to be very few in all of Europe. Last edited by CirrusSR22; 06-02-2015 at 05:36 PM.. |

1.3 second on a 3 minute laptime doesnt exactly equate to "much quicker" 3:01.5 vs 3:02.8. Reviewers have said the 1LE is punishing to daily, a 15 GT PP isnt http://www.caranddriver.com/features...o-2014-feature |

That's some significant weight loss. Not too big a surprise - we knew the switch to the Alpha platform would mean a lighter car. The 1/4 mile times are not at all shabby either.
It'll be interesting to see if they intend to build another Z28 (or similar GT350-like car), and also what they have in store for the ZL1 or similar. Thanks for posting that chart, BTW. |

3,685lbs for SS. Impressive, most people didn't believe the weight loss hype.
In about 3 years, a used manual SS is going to be a dedicated track car bargain. Low running costs, with a workhorse LT1. Last edited by hellrotm; 09-14-2015 at 02:39 PM.. |

Possible. I think it depends at least in some part on whether Ford offers a new GT500, and if they do, whether it replaces or joins the existing GT350. It may or may not make sense for GM to offer a similar lineup - we'll see.

Besides, if they had any "latest and greatest" tech, then it would be going into the corvette. Camaro has always gotten the hand me downs from its big brother. |

Maybe Ford is taking a route where you need to sacrifice straight line speed for track performance or vice versa. Maybe Chevrolets plan is to produce something that is competitive at both. |

While it's great that there's so much competition and affordable hp, it scares me that the general public can buy such fast cars. These performance numbers were reserved for supercars just a decade ago....

m3/4 performance for soooo much less. granted our cars have much better overall appeal and if you need for doors the Camaro is out of the question... But there is no denying that this is impressive performance. I am NOT a fan of the side profile, it seems like there is a lot of sheet metal. I think when they come out with a more track focused version such as a 1LE we are gonna get smoked. I'm perfectly fine with it... my wife says I'm not allowed anything from GM because of all the deaths associated with their KNOWN faulty ignitions. I don't know all the details on that story but it sounds like a good enough reason to not support the company. slightly off topic there .. sorry.
