The RS5 looks very nice and will be a fun car for winter, I love the AWD aspect of it, but the car is already heavy plus AWD really makes it heavier also not liking the V8. I like the look of the M4 and will be a great car in the track, but won't be as fun for winter.
Can't wait for the M cars getting AWD (non SUV!). Why are people here whining about comparing the cars with or without winter tires? Its unbelievable how cheap some people here are! You have a $75k+ car and are hard pressed buying say a $1500 winter tire set up? Heck you can even find something less that $1k! I see people with $15k cars complaining but not people buying "fancy" cars. Regardless how you see it summer tires are shit in snow regardless if you have AWD or not, its slightly "better" than a RWD with summer tires. I have driven my summer tries in the snow and it was terrible! (I have an xdrive) was late changing tires and it was a freak snow in October. People that say AWD with summer tires handle great in snow are BS and trying to make themselves feel good about how awesome their AWD car is!

A few things:
Saw a friend of mine just yesterday and didn't know she traded her M6 for a sexy blue RS5. We were both getting gas so just caught up a bit and I asked her how she liked cars. Her past cars were all modded heavily and she told me the RS5 is near perfect in stock form. They love to take it to Tahoe and it's a great highway cruiser from what she tells me. Her past cars were all BMW and Porsche so she has some car experience. I asked her what she thought of the tranny and she said light years ahead of BMW...hmmm I'm a huge Audi fan and this is where I got my start with euro cars (hence the SN), I find it odd Audi does not offer a 4-door version or I would probably cancel my new M3 order. With that said, why they have the R8 with a manual and not the RS5 is very odd too considering most performance guys want the manual option. At least BMW got that right. My garage has most of my wish list but I'd love to add the v10 R8 and a hot-rod sedan to the stable since I'm selling my e90 m3. I have a new M3 on order but if Audi got a 4-door RS4 in the lineup I may be swayed. C'mon Audi!

if v10 that makes sense since the v10 had the POS SMG gearbox I think the DCT is equal to the DSG, depends what you want. The DCT is more aggressive and faster, but the DSG is smoother. Own an e9x m3 DCT and have driven an rs5 a lot. Good car, but not my cup of tea. More lux than sporty relative to the m3.

Good point, she had the v10 M6 (older body) so that tranny is one gen. behind the current DCT so that could be the culprit. I really disliked the old gen M5/M6 V10 motor, that thing drank gas like water and hated the exhaust tone. The tranny was so abrupt I think my kid could drive a stick better! haha Definitely old school tech that is dated.

I have an e92 M3 and used the OEM 18s with winter tires since 08; No problems (but I grew up in northern wisconsin) here in Chicago - other than the car being so low that I plow snow from time to time;
I've had 4 M3s and every time I left the fold I lived to regret it. The last time was an Audi S4; I listened to what I wanted to hear from the Audi sales guy; It's just not the same (nor is an S4 vs RS5 for that matter) |

As far as looks go RS5 is a sexy beast. M6 is a huge car and I personally would pick RS5 over it all things considered. |

Goodbye M4
So, I finally test drove the M4. Also test drove a RS5. Hands down I enjoyed the Audi more than the BMW. Know that I've had my 330CI for 10 years. Never thought I'd say this, but I loved the Audi. For me, it was simply a better all around daily driver.

Nothing wrong with this at all. I had a 2011 S4 and loved it. I currently own a 2015 M4 (love it) after having a 2012 M3 (loved it too). No one should ever give you a hard time for loving a RS5. It's a great car! As long as you are happy that is all that is important. I would have had a harder time understanding your feelings if you told me you loved a Pontiac Aztec or Dodge Caliber.
