how would I go for installing this on my 2016 m3 and getting idrive6 ?

if you have NBT EVO ID5/ID6 then this touch screen will work. It just have to be properly coded. If you have older ID4, then you will have to replace the headunit to take the advantage of the touch screen.

Just upgraded to idrive 6 and wish I had touch screen but that's a bit steep.

How complex is the install? Debating.

you just have to remove center trim, undo two screws that hold the screen and replace it. It should not take you longer than 15 min to switch screens.

no, same resolution, slightly different brightness but its almost negligible.
