don't sit on that
Seriously nice interior shots. Not my style on the shifter, but very interesting for sure. Maybe a roll cage and gut would fit that shifter. Love the steering wheel as well. Last edited by 4DRS55; 01-28-2018 at 12:13 AM.. |

Whatever people say, that shifter is AWESOME! It's incredible you are able to keep the interior looking stock. When I had my M4, I had a custom shifter made by AutoSolutions, but never got around to installing it. I looked into CAE, but nothing was available at the time. How is the shifting effort and feel?

I drive a lot so the feel is really important to me. Modding the clutch pedal, short shifter, and now the steering wheel, makes for a very satisfying commute. #becauseracecar |

Whatever you do, you cannot un-Civic a Civic M3, though.

I like the shifter a lot. If i had a manual M3, I'd also consider it. Does it work the same way a regular shifter works going through all the gears? It looks just like a sequential shifter. Does it have a solid feel to it with no flex?

CAE definitely got the naming right with that Ultra Shifter...it's exactly that, haha. Love the mechanical feel (and sound) rowing through the gears.
Nice touch with the blue knob!

Looks super sick in action. Does this shifter help eliminate or reduce a chance of a wrong shift (aka money shift) into wrong gears? What was your main reason for getting this one?

The reason I got the CAE Ultra Shifter was for the driving experience. The suspension and things I touch inside the car are more important to me than everything else about the car. So one of the first mods I did to my F80 was to install a UUC short shift kit which I liked very very much. Throws were shorter and a lot of the slop was eliminated. The UUC is a good shifter. When it came to the CAE shifter, I didn't even consider it on this car because I didn't want to be the first one to do it. But after DoctorFord installed the CAE BMW version on his M4, I chatted with him and I decided to pull the trigger. Around the same time, CAE released a model specific version for the M3/M4 and the M2, so that's what I ended up with. That being said, I know this mod isn't for most people. There is some trimming involved to some plastic parts (nothing that can't be easily replaced), and more transmission whirring sounds becomes present in the cabin. But to me, that's a small trade off. |

love your setup, would love to get an alcantara steering wheel....
Few months ago, i spoke will ronald from autosolution, since his short shifter are know as the best available for the e46 m3, i contacted him about a f80 short shifter and he's making an ultra shifter for the f80. so i'll order one from him this week, this give another options to us for ssk. he told me that the conception design is the same as the e92 m3 model and the e92 m3 ssk look like this, very high quality, low tolerence hand made/assembled short shifter, 20% reduction from what he told me |
