Feb Car and Driver claims F8x will have Optional Sport Seats.

So the Feb Car and Driver claims F8x will have Optional Sport Seats that will be even more aggressively contoured than what we have seen. Would be a nice surprise to see those Carbon Fiber Back Seats as the option but VERY pricey no doubt. My track time will be a far and few along with having to drive clients around so no go for me. This option was not seen on the dealer launch guide either. Would you check the box?

It'd depend on the price. If it's somewhere in the neighborhood of the upgraded seats in the c7, the. I'd likely go for it.

Those seats are hideous, as I have said before. But if there are sport seats that are worse, I couldn't imagine what kind of bucket they would look like...

Both M3 and M4 being launched in Detroit are US Specification cars and feature equipment and features exclusive to the USA Market only.

You got me curious, so there are optional seats available in ECE markets?

Best regards,

I have heard of optional via M Performance. I am hoping to get confirmation soon.

Soon they are going to have optional side mirrors along with an optional trunk and an optional windshield The more options they have the more money they make

I know it's corporate greed, but at least don't make it too obvious We are paying 80-90k for a 3 series, don't make us pay 2k more for cool seats that should have been part of the package in the first place.

What are you talking about? We are getting cool seats already, optional ones are probably more of a race bucket which will not fit some of the US fatties.

People really need to think before they bitch about every detail of the car. How do you even know it'll cost $80K-90K...that's right you don't.

Remember that the US pays far less for the M3 than most other countries.

First. The only way this car will go over 80k will be with CCB and likely barely there. BMW would never let an M3 in the foreseeable future reach as high as 90k. It's just not the market for this car.

Second the standards seats seem like they provide plenty of support and along with the rest of the interior which is the best yet. Those optional sport seats will only make sense to a smaller subset of buyers and will not be a fit for all body types. The C7 takes this same approach and their seats are not that cheap either.

Lastly yes BMW is a company like any other that must compete and make a profit. If you feel the pricing and product are not to your liking or price point then the free market is for you to make other choices. I'm sure there is a Ford dealer near you ready to sell you a new Mustang. Respectfully of course

BMW has been marketing Performance Seats for a while now. Remember these?

They were pricey and not everyone was in the market for them. Every car manufacturer does the exact same thing in their cars so I don't see why this why people are getting bent out of shape over this being an option.

I know plenty of people who like to run their cars hard and track them quite a bit who would jump on the chance to buy sport seats for the increased grip and lighter weight. Naturally they would still be a few who like them just for the look. They look really sharp and probably shaves at least 20 pounds with a dual seat setup.

If they did, that would be a first for BMW.

There is no doubt in my mind there is a Performance Seat option that is port install though.

Seen threads about M3 vs M4, CF roof, no carbon fiber, complaining about everything including now seats and what they will cost for different ones.

Everyone should just realize that everything said by BMW is meant to make money and sell you on the greatness of the cars. It's marketing......they are in the business of making money, nothing wrong with that at all.

You want a sports car that comes standard with the most aggressive seats, buy a GT3, you want a sharpened 3-series that will perform well but continues to make compromises and focuses more on luxury and the masses who believe the marketing, buy an M3/M4 and expect to pay money for all the goodies after market companies have been offering for years that make it more like many enthusiasts want, whether visual or performance in nature.

Maybe it's as good as the old Ms, maybe better, maybe worse. Maybe it's a better deal than competitors, maybe worse. Time will tell the value in these cars and their accessories.

Above all, BMW has improved one thing: their ability to offer more options and ways with which to leverage the brand and accessories to grab your money while attempting to appeal to the masses while providing options to the minority who don't agree with the masses. If you think it's worth it, it is. If you don't, it's not.

Either way, can't blame BMW for getting us a good product, while dangling additional goodies they know we want for a few extra bucks-----it's the 21st century game. The masses won't want these types of seats, so they build the car with what they feel will sell, then find a way to get us what the minority might want, which in the past one would have to go aftermarket to get, and provide the option themselves for a price point they feel to be reasonable.

Cheers,
e46e92
