I installed coil overs on the F82 and lowered just over an inch..... I just blame the rattles on that

There is a TSB for the creaking around the windows.
Do you have a reference for this?

Fix was easy. Plastic pry bars to release light fixture and disconnected one cable. Take out the plastic clips and place electrical tape around 7 plastic on plastic contact points. Rattle gone!

I don't want to tempt fate but car is almost rattle free. I'm down to creeks now in center console which I'll fix this wkd.
I have the same problem I will try to fix it and let you know.

I have creaking noise when driving. Sounds like the roof is making it or the rear pillars. Hope it's not going to collapse on me. Don't have time to go to a dealer though. Waiting for the normal maintenance appointment to bring it up.

Sorry to open an old post but my new M4 CP is currently in the dealer trying to get some creaks and rattles resolved. Annoyingly they said they couldn't hear anything so I had to take it back which I did immediately ... I have had quite a number of BMW's over the years and didn't expect this but looks like it is a common problem on the M4

I have a rattle coming from the rear, drivers side area. Seems like the seat belt mechanism or something loose in the rear door.

Mine is from November 2015 and I sometimes hear the same from that area but the engine and/or music are loud enough that I don't hear anything.

I don't listen to music a lot in the car but when I do on high volume I am getting more and more annoyed by the vibrations to the door panels caused by the speakers and low bass music. This only started to happen a couple of months ago. But this is nothing that cannot be fixed once I have a little more time this summer.

TSB - SIB513018
Cause: "The center console is not positioned correctly between the front seats, allowing the side of one of the front seats to rub against the console."
Correction: "Adjust the center console position. If needed, adjust the position of one or both front seats."

I had this noise. Two or three things fixed it 1) felt circle stickers under the car seat top tether covers on rear shelf 2) I turned off ASD (using BimmerCode) the active sound made every rattle seem more pronounced and 3) The dealer did the Teflon tape thing inside all door jam points that touch the flocking.

However, the biggest rattle turned out to be phone charging cradle in center console and wedging closed cell foam between the charger and the walls of the inner center console liner fixed it completely.

Best of luck!

I had an annoying creaking that I thought came from the rear seats of my old '16 M3. Dealer was very very thorough. They went on a test drive with me and we were successful in recreating the sound. He then got in the back seat and put his ears on pretty much everything in the back to try and isolate it. Couldn't pin it down but said he would be on it. I ended up leaving my car there for almost a week. They took apart the rear shelf, seats etc. No luck. Finally they found that an undercarriage brace needed to be adjusted or tightened and that solved the problem. I was very impressed that he didn't give up. Supposedly he was the "expert" at that dealership in finding rattles and he certainly proved it! My M3 never rattled again, not even the infamous trim squeaks. My M3 CS actually has a bit of squeaking and I hope I can remedy that with similar success!

My previous experience with Lexus doesn't have my hopes too high. Any positive experiences getting these things sorted out?

My M3 is two months old and not only the rattles but I can hear the door panels or leather or something creaking while I drive! It sounds like I'm driving in an old house when it's really cold out.... how do you fix that!

lmfaooo man that's normal. But I'd tell the dealer. I think the cause is the CF roof.

How do you wash your car? Most of the squeaks are from the rubber seals rubbing against the door jam. I had a brand new 340i that squeaked like a bed in a brothel after I took it to a waterless car wash. Waterless car washes use a lubricating chemical so as not to damage the paint. If you can imagine lubricated rubber rubbing together I think that's what's happening.

Here's the thing: other than a loose brace, my '16 never squeaked from the seals. I've never used a waterless car wash for the M3 so I think it's from the products I use.

My M3CS, however, is starting to squeak! I'm going to wash my car the same way I washed my M3 and see if it solves the problem. I have a theory, but I'd like to prove it first.

Buy Nextzett Gummi Pfledge and apply to the seals makes them slippery but not greasy. Apply to the rubber bits that touch paint liberally.

Now that I've become obsessed with this I'm starting to hear all types of creaks and squeaks

Mine is more of a rattle and not a squeak so I'm thinking it's not the seal but maybe it is. UGH!

I can hear it now from anyone driving in the car. How much did you pay for this?

The thought of having the car taken apart while only 2 months old kills me.

I've solved this problem in my '16 M3 but I'm going to test it on my M3CS before I make a claim. I did it without gummi as I heard it wears out.
