I did mine (6mt) at 50k miles.

Honestly though if I had DCT I prob wouldnt do the change. Its a much more involved process as far as I know compared to the 6mt fluid change. Perhaps if you are nearing 100k miles it would be something to consider but if its relatively low mileage I wouldnt bother with DCT.

you can buy a service 'kit' with or without a new pan from places such as ECS, tuner, etc.

I wonder if FCP euro have 'lifetime' warranty on this stuff. if so I'll definitely get from them. that's what I did for cabin filter.

I might not change the pan at 50k but definitely at 100k....

I think if you plan to keep the car for the long haul you definitely should, especially with the DCT. I know this iteration of the DCT has been pretty solid, but historically, BMWs DCT transmissions and their "lifetime" transmissions have not fared so well.

What are you referring to with your comments? I haven't really heard of any DCT issues in any iteration they have been used.

I got my diff and trans changed a couple weeks ago at 23,400 miles 6mt. Tech said my diff was clean but trans was dirty. Oem fluids at the dealer. Paid $411 for the service. Included free spark plugs and engine oil change.

Side note; asked them to do the same service on my gfs f80 dct and they said they couldn't do the trans because it is lifetime fluid. But they did do the diff and coolant flush.

Correction, I was more referring to BMW automatic transmissions in general, like the SMG in the e46, or the transmission that the 330i had that were also supposed to be "lifetime" transmissions that started failing at around 80-100K miles.

Yeah it was around 51k when i brought it in last month. We bought hers used with 50k. On the Carfax it says it was brought in for service 3 times from 47k to 50k but didn't state what was done. So i brought it in for service just for peace of mind.

Did this last spring, manual, around 10k miles. Dealer wouldn’t do it at break in service

I'm curious as to their reasoning for not doing the service if it's out of pocket.

They will do it if the owner pays out of pocket. I think he was referring to the fact that the transmission is no longer included with the break-in service. That said, some dealers will feed you that "lifetime fill" crap and say they will not touch it due to liability/warranty concerns down the road - which is complete crap. But in almost all cases, if you talk to anyone with a shred of car intelligence at the dealership, you can get it done - I had the dealer do mine. For the 6MT, the dealer will charge around $200 or so. But the 6MT on this car, like most 6MTs in the past, is a very easy DIY - which is what I plan to do in the future (along with my diff).

Dealer gave me a price of 400 something which I knew was bs. So I went to Autocoture. They wouldn’t do it at break in service like they did on the 2015's.

I paid CAD 161 for the transmission fluid replacement.

I'm surprised they could say 'life-time' fill given that the older M cars required the service to be done.
