what did the E9X M3 start at in the US market? $60k? so i'd guess $65-68k starting?
I think the e92 started well below that in 2008, in the upper 50s. like 56-57k?

I know the e90 was closer to 54-55k....

both crept up over time.

im really interested in the starting price of the sedan and what the actual features the base model will have are. if its really stripped and needs a bunch of options to be modestly equipped (leather seats, power seats, maybe nav) I will be disappointed as it will creep close to 70K which is a lot for a car.

not for an introduction 6 years later and with a totally new model, no.

prices go up. what did you expect? the same price?

also the M3/M4 appears to have a lot more standard equipment (Nav is standard, by early accounts right?)

Agree, it makes no sense making a decision poring over photos on a blog. I plan to drive it first, really drive it at a 2 day M School next fall. I have a buddy who is equally interested, and I am serious to see how it performs at the M school track. Hopefully by early 2015, the craziness will be dying down as well "dealer premiums", and I can negotiate a decent ED delivery.

BMW M3 / M4 Pictures + Specs

This morning the press leaked records of the new generation M3 and M4, and this set the gate to a comprehensive information leak. The German media are popping all the specs in it, and surprise surprise, the new M3 / M4 is faster than its predecessor. But mostly lighter!

The BMW M4 weight just under 1,500 kg to get the DIN weight amounts to 1,497 kg. The EU's weight, which with one passenger (68 kg) and a few kilograms of luggage (7 kg) is taken into account, is 1,572 kg. The M3 weighs 1,520 kg. In comparison, the E92 M3 weighs 1,575 kg (DIN). Below are the comparison of the M4 with its predecessor, the E92 M3.

Performance

The M4 is powered by a 2,979 cm3 large straight-six engine with TwinPower Turbo. It delivers 431 hp and 550 Nm at 1850-5500 rpm.

0-100 km/h does the M4 in 4.1 seconds and the top is of course limited to 250 km/h. Order a M Driver's Package, and the needle stops at 280 km/h. The elasticity of 80-120 km/h in 4th gear coming out at 3.5 seconds. That's as fast as a Porsche 996 Turbo and a Ferrari 575M Maranello F1, and even two tenths faster than a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano F1 and a Pagani Zonda S ...

The average consumption is 8.3 l/100km, with corresponding CO2 emissions of 194 g/km.
The E92 M3 accounted for 12.4 liters on average, and an emission of 290 g/km. 0-100 goes 4.6 seconds and 80-120 km/h was in 4.9 seconds.

Dimensions

The M4 Coupe measurement (without mirrors) 4,671 x 1,870 x 1,383 millimeters, the E92 M3 4615 x 1804 x 1424 mm. The new M is longer, wider and lower, but also lighter. The horsepower-to-weight ratio (DIN / EU) rises to 3.47 / 3.65. This was 3,75 / 3,93.

well US prices are always significantly less than German/Euro prices----so here's HOPING it starts in the low to mid 60s....although i'd say mid 60s is probably a safer bet. If the Sedan starts in the mid-60s, i'm probably in. WITH Yas Marina Blue....in 2015 after my lease is over!

The sedan starting in the mid 60s is a $20k jump over the 335i.

That's ok if a lot of content is included standard - i.e. nav.

The article does precise that to achieve the 4.1s sprint to 100km/h, the car has to be equipped with the DCT. I wonder what performance number will be quoted for the 6MT...

I will most likely buy it in a year or two though, I know I will. I am just upset about the aspects I mentioned above, because I dont track my cars or race them, for me the driving pleasure is the most important thing.
listen here earl . honestly i feel we made very good points. i think its time to let the pros review this car. so then when they said it lacks in the sound department and special character i can come back here and say i told you to everyone. i can already in my mind see chris harris saying this car doesn't have the "grunt" or special appeal the E90 had..... the F80 is just a better performance car. nothing more. also may look better.

never have i bought a car based off how well it performs, but rather how the car makes me feel.

i will be disappointed if the sedans base price is mid 60s. that's too rich for my blood unless it has a bunch of standard features for that money.
