![]() ![]() Featured on BIMMERPOST.com This is the most aggressive driving I've seen so far from the new M3. Sounds and looks quite aggressive. Sounds like the engine revs quite high when you hear it approaching. Drift action @ 2:47 mark. For more M3/M4 info see the compilation thread and the homepage features. EDIT: New video (23rd of July) of the M4: Last edited by Boss330; 07-23-2013 at 11:03 AM.. |

Good find and yes the engine sounds good and the revs seems quite high. The exhaust note is still loose and blarpy which I think we need to accept, I have, but it looks fast and also very controllable. Looks like they were testing what it can do in terms of lap times, they aren't exactly holding back.

The more I see the new M3 being pushed, the better the car looks... Definitely getting more aggressive in testing!

It doesn't sound anything like an inline 6
Two bad things: There is a lot of under steer sound The gearing looks long like M5/6, ECO gearing. ![]() Other than those it looks awesome. How do you apply to become a BMW test driver? ![]()

Hard to tell if it's long geared from a video, but generally turbo cars tend to have longer gears than NA engines. A highly tuned NA engine often has a narrow powerband at very high revs, so it's important to keep the engine in it's sweet spot. A turbo engine has a broader, useable, power band. Meaning that the gearing is optimized to keep the engine in it's max torque range, lower in the rev range, and today, often from low down all the way to redline. One of the advantages/disadvantages of turbo engines... |

I don’t know, very subjectively judging from the N-ring footage of the F80, looks more nimble, planted, and easier to play with vs the E9xs I’ve seen. Wonder if there may be some active steering or different suspension setup vs predecessors.

at 3:08 Not sure if it is another car but when he gets off the gas and on the brakes you can hear the blow-off valve pretty clearly. Might be imagining things lol.

That thing is planted in the corners! I just need a test drive and extra garage space to get it
