Pushing the rubber outwards will always run this risk. While no one will be running 2" thick spacers on a BMW, less aggressive thicknesses will keep more fender over the tire.
Just to clarify, I don't have spacers on my Jeep- the wheels have more extreme back spacing than stock and the tires are just much wider... But that makes sense. Thanks for the reply- if I wanted the "look" but wanted to maximize fender functionality, what's the recommended spacer sizing? The 20/20 looks to be a bit much- whereas the 12/15 seems like it may be about what I want....

Makes sense and I figured it had to do with something like this... I have always heard they can be a safety liability but like anything else, there's probably a right and wrong way do install these things. I'm in the Chicago are so there's got to be someone nearby that could do a good job for me when my car arrives in Sept.

Yup, if installed correctly they are good to go! Chicago area, huh? Your best bet is IND.. they are in Lake Zurich I believe. You can see them posting all over the forums. Check out the F8x pics/vids section they installed spacers on a customer's YMB m3

Thanks- have seen some of their posts. Didn't realize they were around here. Lake Zurich is a hike but certainly worth the trip for good work.

I am having trouble with this. At first the 20F and 20R setup looked great, maybe a touch aggressive for me, so I was thinking 15F and 17R. But then see the last pics with 10 in the rear and it almost looks too aggressive still. I think it may be the different angles of the different pics.

I want to drop on HR Sports and I dont want any rubbing. That being said I want it as aggressive as possible.

What do you guys think?

Long time no see!

The 20/20 combo would be the most aggressive, you can go a bit more conservative if you'd like. The point of this thread is to show various combos as to see which suits one's needs the best. 18mm in the rear would tone it down slightly.

Make the drive down when you take delivery and we can dial it in perfectly.

Thanks Tom! I really want forgestar CF10's for when I take delivery, but am concerned about getting the exact setup I want, so I was thinking of getting spacers first to feel it out... BUT, I really do want to have the wheels and tires ready for when I take delivery...

hey tom, do you think there would be any rubbing if 20mm(f)/20mm(r) spacers were used and lowered on H&R sport springs on F80 M3? TIA

I'm thinking about lowering my M4 on H&R and keeping stock 19" wheels....any idea which spacers will work for a nice flush look? I was thinking 15mm front and rear...

That would work, depending on the drop of the H&Rs.

It would be best to install the springs first, then measure as most are using the 4-series Sport/Super Sports at this time until H&R releases the M3/4 specific springs.

Haven't had a chance to install the Sport Springs yet (H&R has recalled the F8X M3/4 springs at this time with no ETA on release), but we should have a few sets of F3X Sport springs being installed shortly to tell for certain and update the thread.

I think 18 in the front and 20 in the back would be a perfect fit for the M4.. Gotta get me some of these soon!!

Great thread. The pictures really help to see the differences they can make. I can see putting some spacers on once I take delivery. On a side note what color white is the m3, alpine or mineral?

The M3 posted is Mineral White. The M4s are Alpine White for comparison.
