18" Style 513M Wheel Weights / Info

Just taking delivery of our new AY M4, we wanted to share 18" 513M wheel weights to use as a reference:

Wheels: 18x9.0 Front (ET29) 18x10.0 Rear (ET40), Style 513M
Tires: 18": Michelin Super Sport: 255/40-18, 275/40-18

Front: 44.00lb w/ tire
Rear: 48.25lb w/ tire

According to TireRack data, tires weigh in at 25lbs for 255s and 27lbs on 275s.

Front: Style 513M, (no tire): 19.0lbs
Rear: Style 513M, (no tire): 21.25lbs

19" 437M data included as reference for comparison:

Front: 45.90lb w/ tire
Rear: 49.85lb w/ tire

According to TireRack data, tires weigh in at 24lbs for 255s and 27lbs on 275s.

Front: Style 437M, (no tire): 21.9lbs
Rear: Style 437M, (no tire): 22.5lbs

It's a tough road ahead for wheel manufacturers in order to keep within the ballpark of stock weights.

All info is posted in our M4 journal here: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...php?p=16426788

Both the 18 and 19 inch wheels are forged.

Thanks for providing these data! So the 18" wheels (rims + tires) are 1.9 and 1.6 lbs lighter (front/rear), for a total of 7 lbs. less unsprung weight. That is bordering on significant.

We have reliable weights on the rims from BMW:

18" 513M
front = 8.92kg (19.6lbs)
rear = 9.44kg (20.8lbs)

19" 437M
front = 10.4kg (22.9lbs)
rear = 10.6kg (23.4lbs)

I was surprised when I pulled my rear 18's last week. I've pulled a lot of race tires over the years, and these come very close - not even close to the mass of my old E60 M5 wheel/tire. Very nicely done, BMW.

Thanks for prompt response!! I will be using these wheels for Winter instead of my OEM 19s with Blizzaks LM-60. I could not find it anywhere on the forum and should be added to Sticky on wheels/tires section for the 18s. hint hint.. @dackelone

Cheers,
Suave

Am I only one who prefer the look of 18 in. over 19 in.?

Also, a bit more comfort with bit higher profile is more than welcome.
Actually I'll experiment with Conti tyres that provide way better ride quality with small compromise on racing edge quality (for track or ultra high speed drives, I would prefer to put additional set of wheels/tyres and for daily drive to have more comfortable one).

I ordered my car with the 19"s and am thinking about getting these to use with winter tires. Does anyone know, definitively, if I can buy four front (or rear) wheels so I can rotate them?

I love the look of these and they would make perfect wheels to use 4 or so months here in Ohio.

Thanks!

No, 18s are the bomb, lighter, ride better more tire selection and the bigger sidewall looks more racecar like. Also the 513s are amazing looking and they say something about the people that order them that value function as much form. These 18s are awesome. I am trying to see if I can get them to fit on a 1M also.

If anyone has a perfect set of takeoffs in socal, drop me a note. Depending on price I might be interested to try them on my 1M. AWESOME wheel, not just look but weight in an OE wheel is amazing.

Thanks

What is the official color/paint code for the 513m?

I'd like to replicate the color on an aftermarket set.

I just bought a second set of these to run as a winter set-up. It's crazy how cheap you can get these, considering they're forged wheels.

Where are you getting them cheap? I'm looking to move to winter areas this year, and will need some snow tires/wheels.

Found them on Ebay.de (Germany), specifically from JV-automobile. I live in Belgium but my ebay account is US, therefore they wouldn't let me use the .de ebay to purchase. I contacted them directly and they sold the wheels and shipped them for cheap, honouring the ebay price. They were in excellent condition and arrived fast. I bet they would ship to the US as well. I would check their ebay site to see if they have any in stock. I know they had a couple sets at least.

Contact Dennis at online-shop@jv-automobile.de

I come to San Diego quite a bit for work but don't think the wheels will fit in my checked bag

They are genuine, slightly used but in like new condition. got them in the mail last week, just waiting on rear Michelin Alpins to arrive. Can't translate the link unfortunately!! I had to use google translate myself. Best bet is to contact Dennis via the email and see if he'll ship to US.
