I wrinkle painted VRSF top mount intercooler

Pretty shitty paint job by VRSF. Would be embarrassed to install this in the engine bay. How does this get sold to a customer???
Update:Great customer support from VRSF. After seeing this thread, they wanted to make things right.

Decided to try out wrinkle paint for the first time and think it came out great.
Sanded down the old paint to bare metal. I did a coat of por15, 2 coats of primer and then 4 coats of wrinkle paint. Used a heat gun to activate the wrinkles.

Did a blind donkey examine that and decide it was ok to go out to a customer?

You should send them before and after pictures along with a bill for your time and supplies.

Just make sure it doesn't leak when you install it. Seems like quality control isn't that great.

Yeah no kidding, looks like an 8 year old with a spray can of black primer and roll of painters tape did it

It was a blessing in disguise, the wrinkle paint looks amazing

When are you doing the install? Let me know how it goes I'm about to install a csf and worried about the coolant bleeding process

Thanks. I dont think im doing the install any time soon. Its winter time and dont have enough space in the garage for this car. Gonna do the chargepipes, CSF front heat exchanger, VRSF top mount intercooler and intake filters at the same time.

Theres a couple videos on youtube that are good to watch for this. Kies and Yost.

Goodluck! hope the bleeding is quick and easy for you.

Yeah I watched them a few times, they make it look so easy. Depending on your spark plug change interval, you might want to consider changing them as well since you need to take out the charge pipes to get to them anyways.

Thanks for reminder. Yes, the sparkplugs will also be done, i just forget to list them. All the parts are sitting in a pile on the floor haha. Too many projects for the car to keep up with.

I just finished installing TC kline coilovers and new rotors and akebono pads. Need to do brake fluid, flash bootmod3 and finish removing old 10% tint on the rear windows. The cold temps isnt good motivation. Then im gonna start looking into E-Sys coding.

Akibono pads are one of the best things I did so far, the reduced dust is amazing

If the paint looks like that, imagine what the build quality under it looks like. Yikes...

I'm incredibly sorry for the inconvenience, we make it a point to catch any of these finish issues before they leave our location and I can assure you this is not the quality you can expect from VRSF. Please shoot over your order number to sales@vr-speed.com and we'll get you reimbursed for the defective coating.

Unfortunately a few of these slipped through the cracks from our first batch and the issue has since been rectified. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns.
