305's rear and 275s front on stock wheels
I know this has been discussed before but do we have any updates from the folks that have gone with the wider tires sets front and back on the stock wheels? I truly love the stock but I fee like it needs to be wider in the rear.. Does the 305's on the rear make the back look any beefier/wider... I like that ass you know any negative feed back about performance from the folks that have gone this rout?
Thanks in advance... |

According to the spec of most tire makers, 10" wheels are too narrow for 305 tires.

Using 305 on 10in wheel wont give you any better traction than 285s. Most tire shops wont even install it for you due to possible tire failure. Ive tried oversized tire before.. All it does is it creates "pre-flex" on the side walls of the tire and causes much faster wear and wobbly side wall under hard cornering applications. Thankfully mine didnt explode or anything, but it definately felt worse than putting on correct sized tires.
Trust me in this, putting 275 dot r comps will make it feel 100000 times better than 305 pss . |

Apparently according to tire rack 295/30 will fit on stick runs and is in acceptable range.

I don't disagree with you that 305s are probably overkill on a 10" rim, but the stock 275s are smaller than a normal 275 and have the tread width of a normal 255 tire at 9.5". So even going to a regular (non-M4 spec) 275 would give wider tread which would help lateral grip. The regular PSS 275/35 has a 10.2" tread width. R-comps would be a big upgrade, but good luck driving those on the street on a regular basis. My personal thought is that a 285/35 or 295/35 is probably the best balance for both improved straight line and lateral grip. I'm curious to see what BMW goes with for the competition package.

I hope this is true. I really want to get some beefier tires for my car. Do you think you'll be able to fit these tires on an M4 with 12mm spacers and a very subtle drop? I just installed KW HAS kit and the spacers and I would like to get some fatter rear tires.
