They should have made the MPE standard. That's worth 8kg .

Anyhow, I'll take the one I have on my current M4 and transpose it to the CS (if I don't change my mind on getting one).

Here is a clip I got from the BMW UK site and uploaded...... does the M4 Club Sport have the same sports exhaust found in the BMW M4 Competition Pack or is it different?

Remember the Gts? 700 became 810. And that was supposed to be strictly limited. The CS is not intended to be a limited production model.

3,001 or 3,500 worldwide...etc. Still smaller production that I had thought. Only a two production year run. Seems semi-limited to me.

Having been given the answer we anticipated and our dream car dashed, we refocused on the BMW M4 CS – a car that has nothing to do with the special edition model created for the Spanish market last year, before you ask. What we learned is that the new model owes its existence to the popularity of the M4 GTS. “We were surprised by the demand for the M4 GTS. All 700 units were sold out within four weeks. For various reasons we couldn’t build anymore, but there was a clear business case for a more track-focused M4 to slot in above the M4 Competition and below the GTS. And that’s how the M4 CS came about,” revealed Quintus. 3000 units will be built over a two-year production run, and they will all set out with ease.

Roughly a couple thousand a year seems about right to me. I don't think there are too many folks out there eager to pay the premium for this over a nicely optioned M4 ZCP. BMW more than likely knows how big the market is, and they are targeting a production run of roughly that size. This is a market that's going to be driven in no small part by the desire to have something exclusive rather than have a car that offers performance or performance/$ otherwise unattainable.

From my perspective, this does not feel like a 1M, GT4 or even M2 type of limited product situation.

I should add that if this had been an M4 ZCP plus 500hp water injected S55, M Performance exhaust, optional M Performance HAS, with the OLEDs, 738M, and GTS hood thrown in at $90k-$100k starting then, yes, you'd see mass scrambling of people trying to get their hands on one of the approximately 3000 units.

Although I don't see BMW having trouble moving their 3,000 CS units worldwide. The upcoming M2 CS and GTS with S55 is going to be the hard to get model. I could easily see the M2 with S55 being the more sought after car, even over the M4 GTS.

I would say that this clip sounds similar to the ZCP, but is more aggressive and crackly earlier in the rev range. Also sounds more aggressive overall to my ears...

It also sounds like the clip originated from a point of reference which is physically close to the rear exhaust tips. Now, if that sound is somehow coming from the interior of the car, I will be REALLY jealous.

Let's put things in perspective. BMW produced roughly 40,000 E92 M3 coupes over about a 6 year production run. That's about 6700 M3 coupes a year. Assuming similar volumes for the F82, that would mean ~25% of produced M4s over the next two years would be CS variants. 1 out of 4 M4 a CS: not "that" limited and sort of makes sense to me...

As much about the Gts as the CS. Cool video (except for the vertical part)

What's the Cause for Excitement?

Finally, a statement about this product that rings true!

Consider a stock Camaro is more than 22 seconds faster around the 'Ring. At least these cars perform in the same ballpark. Sarcasm.

Sad times at BMW. Product is informed by "exclusivity" more than balanced performance. There seems to be a disconnect between this management group and the values that established the marque as an enviable international brand. Where is the aspiration, investment, and focus to maintain relevant in the world of "Ultimate Driving Machines"? Instead, corporate investment in R&D indicates the Toyota Prius as the benchmark.

At least they test wings on their non-off-road SAVs. Cute.

Not "that" limited. Based on E92 production numbers, we can extrapolate between one out of four to one out of five M4 coupe produced will be a CS.
