Slick/R-Comp New Tire Shelf Life w/ Proper Storage?

I can't seem to get a definitive answer from anyone and some manufacturers give dates but they vary a bit.

What's the age limit for a properly stored new slick/r-comp? It seems like no one has rear tires I'm looking for newer than DOT17.

Are you only looking at takeoffs? Or are those dates "New" R7's from TireRack?

Pending price for takeoffs I would just send it haha.

Also look into TrackDayTire.com if you are looking for new Hoosiers. They usually are $100 cheaper than TR and you can usually find a "sponsor" discount code for 10% off too.

No definitive answer, judgment call. If I were in your shoes, would come down to confidence level in how they've been stored.

2017 production wouldn't be a deal breaker for me from Tire Rack.

Hi, when i got my spec miata it came with 2 year old RR with many heat cycles and ??? storage conditions.

My team mates and I took them down to the cords in that questionable state and it was fine. Obviously not as grippy as a set of stickers but certainly not unsafe to use.

If you’re getting a screaming deal on a set stored in tire rack climate controlled warehouse, get after it
