Slick/R-Comp New Tire Shelf Life w/ Proper Storage?
I can't seem to get a definitive answer from anyone and some manufacturers give dates but they vary a bit.
What's the age limit for a properly stored new slick/r-comp? It seems like no one has rear tires I'm looking for newer than DOT17. |

Are you only looking at takeoffs? Or are those dates "New" R7's from TireRack?
Pending price for takeoffs I would just send it haha. Also look into TrackDayTire.com if you are looking for new Hoosiers. They usually are $100 cheaper than TR and you can usually find a "sponsor" discount code for 10% off too. |

No definitive answer, judgment call. If I were in your shoes, would come down to confidence level in how they've been stored.
2017 production wouldn't be a deal breaker for me from Tire Rack.

Hi, when i got my spec miata it came with 2 year old RR with many heat cycles and ??? storage conditions.
My team mates and I took them down to the cords in that questionable state and it was fine. Obviously not as grippy as a set of stickers but certainly not unsafe to use. If you’re getting a screaming deal on a set stored in tire rack climate controlled warehouse, get after it |
