Official Thread: 6MT Owners Report Rev Matching Issues & Fix Here

Fellas,

I realize there have been several threads floating around here in which guys have reported rev match issues that seem to fizzle out, I am attempting to make one official thread we can refer back to if a fix is found.

The intent of the tread is for owners to post the rev match issues malfunction issues, any videos, other relevant details such as weather , when it occurs, vehicle build dates, ect.

DO NOT Post here to tell us we should have bought a DCT, we need to learn how to shift ect., ect, YES we know that if you hold the clutch in on a down shift along time the revs will drop back down and it will not rev match, DONT INFORM US OF HOW GREAT YOUR REVMACTING IS WORKING THAT IS NOT THE POINT OF THIS THREAD ...THE POINT IS TO HEAR FROM THOSE THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THE ISSUES SYMPTOMS & POSSIBLE FIXES ...Keep the nonsense for the billion other threads on this forum.

My Vehicle issues:
For the past year my I have been experiencing intermittent rev. matching issues, it occurs randomly sometimes at start up or sometimes after hours of driving, the system completely stops working usually after a few minutes it will begin to work correctly or sometimes I must cycle through the throttle modes. I find I can only duplicate it when its raining or when there is big humidity change prior to rain. One several occasions it has started to rev match in “sport +”throttle mode. my build date is 11/2014
So far my dealer has not provided any fixes

lets hear from others !

you should have bought a DCT!

In all seriousness Rev match works about 80% of the time on my car. Sometimes it thinks im gonna downshift when im upshifting (this started this week). I have not seen any Fixes to it but would love to know more info

Same boat. In sport, rev matching seems to randomly stop working. I'll cycle through throttle modes which will usually get it back.

No experience with rev matching in sport + though. But I would to get that coded on, ha.

auto rev matching in sport+ wow talk about ghost in the machine. I have noticed that the auto rev matching is not always consistent when rowing down the gears... in other words sometimes there is more resistance than usual. On the other hand, i'm so used to heel-toeing that it doesn't really annoy me. after more miles i will report back.

I drive in Sport + exclusively. I haven't noticed any issues in Sport, however. I prefer to do my own rev-matching.

There is no rev matching in sport+. In the other two modes it depends on how fast you shift between the gears. If you take to long I have found it won't rev match.

I think their point is it's not supposed to happen in sport plus but it is.

I have never had this happen. I drive in sport plus 90% of the time.

Sorry for the shaky video, took this little clip this morning, clearly in sport+ and I even let it hang a little before I re-engage the clutch to show you that its not me pushing the throttle, its the car doing it.

found it! here is the video from forum member domd817 , who stated BMW purchased the car back after a 7 month battle with BMWNA ... perhaps he can chime in with some more deatails that could help us out, what dealer did you work through? , as I have just began the process of dealing with BMWNA, my dealer is really not backing me at this point he is telling me BMWNA is completely unaware rev matching problems, and there have been no reported cases...f-ing BS!

I haven't found any issues, as long as you are deliberate with your shifting. I think skipping gears might cause issues, but for what it's worth, my car has been rev matching flawlessly.

The only problem for me is when it is the rematching mode is to not blip the throttle when I shit. I does not like that at all!

He said he spent 7 months dealing with it and No Fix was ever provided thats why the buyback. I wonder if his dealer ever tried applying complete software flash to 2016 vehicle version software. Although, I really believe its a hardware issue in my case due to the duplication only in high humitidy/rain

The only problem I have had with rev match is sometimes in sport mode it will randomly rev match on an upshift. Enough to make the car shoot forward when I release the clutch.

I just drive in sport+ all the time now even tho its not very fuel efficient.

I think including a build date in posts would be informative as well.

Mine has been downshifting perfectly no matter how many gears I skip or how many times I do it. It's practically second nature, and the car understands exactly where I'm going to shift next. I believe deliberation on exactly what gear you want to shift to next is key.

Also if this car is anything like the the older generation M, Sport plus doesn't necessarily mean more gas, or less fuel efficient. Throttle sensitivity is adjusted, so if you adjust your own throttle accordingly with your foot, you should get fairly the same amount of mileage.

Can't you guys just have someone to code out the auto rev matching? What's the point of it on a manual anyway. Just get a DCT if you don't want to rev match yourself...
