I chose Akra on my current build, all the bungs are in the right places just like OEM, no need to realign anything, everything stays where it should. Some of you know exactly what I'm talking about.
To say something fits perfect when any of the parts on the car need modification whether it is bending a heatshield or by not being able to hang the O2 sensors on the factory points is not perfect to me, to each its own I guess.

Agreed. I finally caved in for Akra DPs, and have a set arriving today. Will probably wait for my next inspection to be completed before I have them installed though.

Why are you turning it on me being shady now? lol I'm just stating the facts of the business world, obviously not everyone copies just trying to point out that many do and one example was the ebay downpipe. All china does is copy, look at samsung as well...all samsung phone owners are unethical for supporting them? its financial and choice based not morals, not everyone can afford an iphone or some dont like the ios of not being open sourced. I never said I was for the process even linked a college class to prove how bad it is and how the education system is trying to shed light on the subject by offering a college course! If you just stereotype cause I bought such a product thats just ignorant. If you assume things in life, it just makes an ass out of u and me...

No problems other than install took an hr longer according to shop but eventually fit and installed no problems since. It's just a name for the higher priced ones, already have an M4 so didn't need anything just for the name! If your installing yourself you probably should get a better one but honestly mine was 360 compared to 1000 and install was only 200. To each their own, cant see downpipe under the car and im sure they used a name brand one to copy. If it wasn't metal or more technical I would have got a better one but not spending money is saving money! Just couldn't pay over 700 for a pipe...
Agree indeed. Definitely not paying for a name, this is for a lot of other parts also. no need to waste more money just to say you got it.

I initially went with VRSF and had no issues with fitment or performance. Excellent product.

Of course, as the mod bug tends to do, went with the AA midpipe a few weeks later. Drove the car with straight exhaust for a couple of weeks and performance was unbelievable. However, the exhaust odor was just too much for a DD, so swapped the VRSF for catt'd AR Design DPs. Fitment was also spot on and required no modification.

Absolutely love the sound of the exhaust, garage doesn't smell like ass, and much more pleasant to drive with the windows down. Also, performance seems minimally affected in all but the most extreme moments of pushing the car.

This may sound ignorant but what is the added benefit from placing an aftermarket down pipe?

This replaces your catalytic converters (which are restrictive) with straight pipes for better exhaust flow. The benefit is a slight bump in power. It will also raise the volume of your exhaust a considerable amount.

It's not really possible to create an equal length downpipe due to turbo location but upgraded midpipes that feature an x pipe or a dual to single midpipe like the two VRSF options help to balance out the raspy S55 note.

Looking at the pictures, I can see what you mean. I think there may have to be some crafty exhaust work to get equal length downpipes (before any crossover happens) to equalize the exhaust tone from the "burrrrrrr" (which I still love), to the "vrrrrrrrooooo" (hard for me to describe the sound, but more n54 or 2jz sound).

and then I wouldn't even know if it would even change the overall sound.

Sorry to bring this thread back to life, but what do you guys think about Megan?? It's a big well known brand that's been expanding into the Euro market lately. Their DP is like $289 and looks identical to VRSF and others. Thinking about getting it since I keep hearing stories about fitment issues on the VRSF units?? Like you guys said, it's just a metal pipe...thoughts? 🤔

VRSF quality and fitment is much better than Megan and we offer both brands

I prefer downpipes with the original flex like Akrapovic or Eisenmann. BMW wouldn't have used a flex section for no reason and I think the one's deleting the flex are more focused on cost reduction than providing components to factory standards IMHO.

Ahh, thanks for this info. New to the S55 platform, so I didn't know that. I'll look into the units with Flex sections.

I agree. You're not *just* paying for a name when you go with top-tier DPs like Akra or Eisenmann. There are subtle differences that set them apart (and above) less expensive options. Granted, there's probably not triple the price worth of difference, but I'm happy as a pig in shit with my Eisenmann DPs. Fitment is absolutely perfect and they mate up perfectly with the AA midpipe.

New to the tuning world. Would a downpipe alone make a difference in performance. F80 zcp.
