CEL P0057

On my way to work this morning I got a check engine light. Had it read at Autozone and it showed P0057 twice

The guy there said it was the secondary o2 sensor. I did have downpipes installed recently, but that was nearly 1000 miles ago and almost a month ago.

Any thoughts?

I tried searching the code, but couldn't get any results.

Thank you

You might want to get the car on a lift and physically check the installation of the secondary O2's.

Yeah the car is in the shop now, so hopefully I get a better idea really soon.

What's the likelihood the sensor is still okay if it's install error? Could it be that it wasn't tightened down properly?

Let us know what they say could be damaged sensors or your tuner did not set the auto code delete feature on

How much is a replacement sensor? I know i'm jumping ahead here, but just want to know what to expect. I was told labor in swapping the sensor was 4 hours or something, based on book time.

The actual sensor is ~$60-$70

Bosch 15733

This is a universal part so some modification might be needed.

OE part number 11787848487 (Im not 100% positive about the part number)
OE is 4 times the price

Universal requires cutting and splicing. I'd vote against that but that's just my personal preference.

I'm pretty sure that "auto code delete" is only a feature on piggy-backs. That's also never a good idea because then you have no way of ever knowing if you have a real problem. O2 sensors are used for Lambda Control and fuel trimming which is definitely important for safety and performance.

PTF would be the best to advise on this but back in the Cobb days (N54), you had to add the code which you wanted the DME to ignore

Should be the same with this engine or else how would the DME know which code to hide and which code to keep

The specific code I got is 12B4O2, the issue is with the wiring

They're going to start taking things apart to see what's going on, at a minimum i'm looking at 4 hours of labor

That might be a layman description for what's going on, but no responsible tuner would be hiding codes or shutting stuff off.

I'm sure there's a more sophisticated approach so I'd suggest the OP reach out to HEX Tuning if he's curious even though I'm fairly sure the fault code is not software related.

I had the this code albeit 12B403 and had the sensor changed. Still same fault - I think it relates to the tune and you need it to disregard the code.

I am running VRSF DP's and Stage 2 Hex.....well I was until I had to go back to BM for some warranty work, had the car remotely flashed back to stock by VF. I'll be back at Stage 2 next week !!

Speak to Mike at VF !

I actually spoke to Gary at VF and he was convinced this is a hardware thing...Even the code that I was told by the shop said it was regarding the wiring, so i'm hoping it's an install error. If it were software related why would it take nearly 1000 miles and 4 weeks to come on?

Turns out the shop that installed the downpipes must've cut/snipped a wire in my sensor, a white one to be specific, so I'm getting a new o2 sensor installed and should be good to go.
