M4 GTS Extended Warranty options...

So my BMW warranty expires in a couple months. Are there any 3rd party companies that will cover my car. I have called several already and they gave me a HARD no. Anyone have the hookup at a BMW dealer for a good rate?

I was able to grab a 7-year, 50,000 mile warranty (from date of warranty purchase) from Hendrick BMW in Charlotte for $4300. Zero deductible, full coverage.

My quotes ranged from $2800 for 1 year of Powertrain+ to ~$6k for 3 more years of Platinum coverage.

The pricing is generally front-loaded (first year is $$$, then adding subsequent years is much less).

Given that it's a GTS, the mileage is much less of an issue than the time - all of the quotes I got were for 75k miles of coverage.

I think the Gold coverage is the one I would most likely sign up for, but $4k for 1 year of coverage feels pretty steep. 2 years was $4700 and 3 years was $5300, both of which are slightly more reasonable, but I may just roll the dice.

1 year of Platinum warranty on the GTS is more than a 1 year NewPower warranty (extended warranty) from Ferrari on a 458/488 or FF/F12. That's just absolutely ridiculous.

If you look in my previous thread, I got BMW platinum extended until 2023 for ~$3000 USD in Canada.

My mileage at the time was 2800 and I extended it right when the world shut down. It was set to expire in November so I did it far in advance to take advantage of a desperate dealer.

Just decided to buy M4 GTS, factory warranty expires November 4.

BMW apparently offers no extensions for this particular model according to my local dealer.

The selling dealership is not BMW but offering ESP warranty six years from purchase date, up to 60k additional Miles. third party, Axiom, around $4200.

Thought?

BMW dealers offer BMW extended warranty for additional 3 years 75,000 miles for around $6,500. Same as original 4 years. Lots of other cheaper ones but no one else guarantees replacement with original OEM parts (read the small print)

Thanks that is helpful I’ll keep asking. I talked to several people at BMW San Antonio and was assured that BMW does not offer extended warranty on my VIN. A bit of a head scratcher.

I have left several messages with BMW Austin but have not heard back.

Currently warranty is good through 4 November so I’ve got some time.

I would walk in to your local BMW dealer and talk to the warranty guys directly. I got a similar warranty as the one you're being offered but from a local BMW dealership. Makes me feel better knowing my car will be serviced by BMW and not some random dealer or shop.

So interestingly, another dealer in the area (Austin, car actually originated here) checked for me and said that since the break in service was performed at 1361 miles, not 1200, that BMW would not extend the warranty.

The finance / warranty guy said he had contacted several people at BMW trying to get an exception, but this has also been denied, although he was apparently waiting on one more email.

They are offering a Penske aftermarket warranty that's around 6k which is good up to 75k miles and I think 4 years or so.

There is one more dealer, also in Austin, I'll try them as well.

Drove the car home this morning, it's everything I expected!

Can't wait to do a track day at COTA.

That sounds bogus as hell, like they're steering you toward the warranty they'd like to sell. Definitely try another bmw dealer, just provide vin and don't raise the 1200 mile break in "issue." Say you want warranty extension through bmw only, see what they come up with.

There's a dealer on the forums that supposedly offers competitive pricing on warranties. GOLFERR or something like that is one of their reps. I have the post saved on another machine, can try to find it later today.

Can confirm, I got quotes from several places and GOLFFRR was the cheapest!

That said, cheapest is relative - I ended up deciding to self-insure because BMW charges such high prices. Even with little to no dealer markup, I couldn't fathom paying $5k for a 1 year warranty. I have the ability to work on my car though (both in terms of space and mechanical skill), and I realize not everyone is in the same position.
