OP
I think you just need to give up the dream of a manual conversion on your GTS and dump it.

Since you already have been resigned to the fact that values of GTS’s have tanked, I guess I’ll take one for the team and take it off your hands... 😉

No, I wont let the OP do that to you. How dare he sell you a depreciating asset. AS IF! I’ll take the hit and, begrudgingly, take it off OP’s hand instead. I got you bro 👊🏻

I have a manual gearbox in the storage room and a gts in the garage, whenever I see the gearbox I always think of the swap

Did you find a shop to do the swap? I have remotely considered getting a GTS and swapping it. Remotely considered it……

Honestly, It seems far better to financially build up to a GTS from a original manual M4. The offset in time and expense seems to allow extra thought towards the completed vehicle. Like from the outside, you are better off buying front splitter, rear spoiler, and M4 GTS badging. From 50ft away some wouldn't know the difference. You more likely retain or gain value further on. No?

Engine performance can be mimic with retuning and no water. Right?

I have to disagree with this. The gearing on both E92 and F82 6MT feel exactly same to me. My E92 6MT is much more direct and freer revving thanks to the responsive engine/transmission combo (note that mine is an '07 with the lighter flywheel). F82 was quite GT-like in comparison.

Just the rear wing of the m4 gts cost 4000 dollars... a manual gearbox of the m4 can be had for about 1500 dollars, pedals about 100 dollars (I bought pedals last week for 20 dollars) then a cae shifter and with all this we would not reach 4000 dollars.

So are you saying its better to buy the GTS since it has the rear wing, or are you just mentioning the cost it would take to mimic such look and functionality? The cost for parts is one thing…. Time and labor is another.

Now if the OP is going for numbers matching vehicle except the manual transmission, i can understand the effort if so.

I mean that having an m4 gts is easier and cheaper to do the conversion than buying a manual m4 and converting it into a gts.

I plan to convert to manual on my gts.

It’s not necessarily “cheaper”…this depends on what you value and skills or equipment you access…. I can get a used M4 manual for $35,0000…. GTS are pushing $85,000 and up. There is a price difference of $50,000 right there off the bat. If your a new buyer and you want to get to the track… based on your wallet, the used M4 manual may be better. If you are sh*ting gold every morning, then maybe a GTS is better for you. Get the GTS and do the conversion, then the every day wear and tear expenditures will probably be about the same. Maintenance, Tires, Damage from track (i.e broken windows, bent rims, splitters damages)

You already have GTS, money already spent, If you have more then you can do it. Hope it works. You will be one of few. Nothing wrong with that.

What’s really different in terms of performance department at the end of the day. Not as much. But if you want the interior bits and selective “GTS” exclusive pieces, then yes. GTS.

Forged Apex or Titan Racing wheels $3500, Cup 2 Tires $2000, Front and rear aero$6000, bucket seat and roll cage and installation $5000. And a tune… $20000 dollars roughly and you would be close to GTS on track. These are obviously rough numbers. Just making a point.

You did not understand my message, I meant that it is cheaper to put a manual gearbox in a gts than having a gts and at the same time buy an m4 6mt and convert it into a gts, we are in the thread of the m4 gts, it is understood that those who post here you have one, and this thread talks about conversion to 6mt on m4 gts regardless of what is more profitable or less profitable.

I understood it, hence why I said, if you have already spent money on GTS and have more money to spend available, then do it! Yes, you do it because you want to personal enjoyment. But no man has ever gone throughout life without some type of financial consideration, Cars or else.

And yes, the thread is about a conversion of such a car... But at the end of the day, these post will be here in the future and there will be individuals that don’t own a GTS. They may stumble across this thread considering to purchase a GTS for the track/spirited driving. Do they want the car or do they just want similar performance. That’s all.
