You then adjust the brightness of the Instrument Cluster with the controller next to the light switch and the brightness of the Ambient Lighting in iDrive.
Is the iDrive option normally greyed out? I never coded this in but I can adjust the lighting levels in my car using the iDrive setting, assuming this refers to the lighting in the doors and rear armrest areas. Was it somehow already setup on my car?

I cranked up the "classic" (red) lighting since I think it looks great on the SO interior.

You can still change the accent lighting in iDrive without the coding, but you have a more limited range. If you have maxed out the iDrive setting, then you might want to try the coding. Otherwise, there is no need.

It would be nice if someone with the knowledge/experience on coding setup a blog, website, or something where we can search for what we want to code so that we get step-by-step instructions.

I would like to code the following and I would like some help, I have already the software and the cable (thx Shawnseridan!):
  1. Enable video/DVD in motion
  2. Enable camera use while driving
  3. Disable legal disclaimers
  4. Transfer phone's ringtone to car
  5. Open/Close windows with key FOB or Comfort Access
  6. Fold/Unfold mirrors with key FOB or Comfort Access
  7. Auto-unlock doors when car turned off
  8. Enable memory for auto start/stop
  9. High beam assistant on by default
  10. Enable accurate digital speedometer
  11. Enable real/time digital fuel consumption
  12. Enable LED Door Handles Illumination when in Reverse
  13. Increase the brightness of ambiance lighting
  14. Disable auto start/stop

I would like to give it a try with the Fold/Unfold mirrors, I have the comfort access.

G4BR13L , this may not answer your question, but just in case you are not aware of these useful threads:

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1125375
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1180683
http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1040273

And this functionality although we're a small community, there's a bunch here that are really nice and helpful that'd give you a hand if you put in some effort in learning. But i agree a sticky would be useful as searching is sometimes difficult, but part of the fun!

Doesn't exist, requires an aftermarket controller like the Macht Schnell EVC module.

Which by the ways works like a charm! I have it set so that each time the car is started with the valves closed because it is loud at 5 AM :-) and with a simple 1 sec touch on the BC button I can open the valves. And this can be done while driving around at any speed and I especially love the combination with muting ASD when the valves are closed

Thanks G4BR13L @tom @ eas
I am waiting for the "new" MPE. The dealer was going to send me a price list of the new M Performance parts that will be available as of January.

Appreciate the feedback.

Most everyone that has the MS EVC module has been thrilled with the features and ease of use.

Instead of 2B I had the value 2E. So I changed it also to 2B. The amber lights are not running but now I don't know if I unwillingly also changed something else by changing it from 2E to 2B. Anybody know what the difference is between 2B and 2E? My car is an European F82 (sold in Belgium).

And they are also still turned on with the "welcome lights", the lights when you lock/unlock the car but they turn off once you start the engine.

That byte determines the brightness of the LED rings: 2E (46%) is the current setting, although 2B (43%) is indistinguishable from it.

See this post.
Does it mean that the brightness of the LED rings can be increased to 64 (100%)?

When I first picked up the car the seat moved automatically to the back position that allowed easy entry. Is this a configuration or can it be coded? I cannot find this option in iDrive.

Yes, it can. Keep in mind that what we are discussing is the brightness of the LED rings when used as position lights, i.e., when the low beams are on. The brightness when used as DRLs is already set at 100% (64 hex).

Another German member increased them to 4B (75%) to preserve some differentiation between position lights and DRLs, as required by law: see this post.

After setting the werte for the WELCOME LIGHT 1 in the TMS module, I noticed that the amber light is still on, on the right side but it is disabled on the left side. There is also a WELCOME LIGHT 2, 3 and 4.

Did I miss something?

There are two TMS: TMS [41] is for the driver side and TMS [42] is for the passenger side. It looks like you skipped one. Do not change WELCOME LIGHT 2, 3 and 4.
