Adaptive LED lighting turned on-wow

I got my m3 coded a few days ago and "turned on" the LED adaptive lighting which is set to OFF in the USA.

Tonite, I had a long night time drive back home and turned the thing on almost the whole time.

Wow- it is awesome, LEDs keep changing things around headlights and tailights and no one high beamed me.

I always thought the regular led low beams were kind of dim, the adaptive lights are amazing.

if you have LED headlights and have not coded it to the euro spec you are missing out!!

also coded the EURO MDM mode, going to try that out soon

How do you get this coded remotely? I don't think there's anyone close that can do it

I can help with that. You would need to order the cable which is pretty cheap and have a windows laptop with internet access at your car.

in the US only the automatic high beams assist is activited .. so it automatically activates/deactivates the high beams.

this special shaping of the high beams, that only left or right side is active (which is active on the EU spec) is not USDOT approved and so not activated on the US cars. but you can code it!

Ok so every time I take my M4 to the dealer and ask him to code anything (the lights on the handles to turn on,active sound off, literally anything) he says that it's impossible. How are you guys coding all this stuff?

I'll probably do this when I get my car! The video of the euro spec adaptive lights looks awesome!

What is the difference between the euro and US MDM mode though?

Not something the dealer is going to do for you.

Dealer will never do coding and most won't acknowledge it is possible. It's a liability and legal issue. I don't think the USDOT would react well to dealers modifying cars so they are in violation of US laws.

Which is why none of us do it - this is all just hypothetical

MDM is simply a delayed response to when DSC will intervene. More specifically when the car detects a slip angle higher than its set value it will activate DSC. In the US spec cars these values are set lower. The effect is MDM in US spec cars intervenes much earlier.

EU spec headlamps were the first thing we had coded, it's a trip to see on long drives. Amazing this isn't standard in the US, but at least it can easily be added.

Makes sense. Basically the equivalent of 'DTC' in my 335is? Hold it down, and DSC goes off completely.

yep its in between full nanny mode and no net trampoline dance. on this car its actually handy for people learning on a track. (euro mdm mode that is). the US spec MDM is pretty much worthless.
