Just trying to figure what we can and cannot code anymore when they update the firmware in the car.

I tried to search, but i can't find that specific info and i'm sure it's here somewhere.

Thanks
All is still codeable as long as you are using the untrimmed files that Shawnsheridan can send you.

So someone was able to fix the trimmed CAFD files for the various modules?

Fantastic! Going in for break-in service next week and have prior software version, so was going to request they don't code the car to the newer (untrimmed) version...Now I know how hard of a line to take if necessary...Thats great news

I had exactly the same concern when I went for my break-in service a couple of weeks ago, although in the end the dealer did not update my software.

It's really fortunate that some people with great programming skills are willing to share their work with the BMW community.

OK, I don't have an M4 or Convertible...just an M3. Been messing with coding for the past month and here's my list...relatively in order:

My Top 10:
1. Satellite radio activate (didn’t do exec pkg)
2. Activated Enhanced BT/Office/Messaging
3. Euro Adaptive Headlights
4. Disable Active Sound
5. Disable Seatbelt Reminders
6. Decreased amount passenger mirror dips when in reverse
7. All doors unlock with ignition shutoff
8. Turn off Nav/Radio when drivers door opens
9. Enable rear foglights (helps w/backup cam @ night)
10. Key fob - Roll up windows/sunroof, Fold/unfold mirrors

Other things that I appreciate:
- Removed all disclaimers on iDrive
- Video in motion
- Office in motion / full text messages
- Able to close windows with doors open
- Changed auto headlight sensitivity to insensitive - now go on when its a bit darker, appropriately
- Emergency brake flashing
- Door handle lights on in reverse - don’t have side view cameras but increases the visibility of the car itself at night
- I also added a rear backup cam retrofit kit from bimmertech and that wouldn’t be possible without coding that they did
- Changed timing of interior illumination on lock/unlock

What I will be messing around with in the future:
- Auto close windows and sunroof when rain sensor detects rain (would only work with car running, not sitting in a parking lot)
- Euro MDM mode (once I get a good feel for USA MDM mode)

PM'ed you contact info of a programmer. You have to buy an FSC Code from BMW NA which is a deeper level than just normal FDL coding. It get programmed into your head unit which activated Sirius XM. I then called up Sirius XM and told them I have a new car with Sirius XM that wasn't activated, and signed up with a 1 year free trial. Working great. I do a bunch of coding myself obviously but didn't want to mess with this one...

I agree...this one is weird. Sometimes they come on at the same light level they always have, and then there are other days that it seems very dark out and they aren't on yet... ...I think I saw a code in there that had to do with the timeout for how long they need to stay on once triggered...but then you'd be flashing lights every time you drove under a bridge if you shortened that time...etc.

I have a convertible - the SMARTTOP functionality (http://bit.ly/1HrMSGa) MUST be programmable using coding - especially the one click open / close and the speed limit....

shawnsheridan any thoughts on where that POSSIBLY could be?

I don't think it is codeable. They are adding hardware (SmartTOP module) that taps into the existing Roof Module to accomplish this.

If I was looking for the FDL Codes though, I would look in FEM_BODY (F30 CAS) and FZD Roof Module, although Roof Module may have different module in Convertible car. I never code a convertable before, so I am not sure about the specific module name for the top.
