Hello Guys,

Just received my car back from the dealer for the updated software...

I have extensive coding for my car which was untouched? all coding including even the settings for radio were same as before... except the time which it was reset.

So I thought you could update the software but it would clear all coding? or maybe if some of the modules have already the latest software they remain untouched?

I decided to check what version I have and it comes out like this:

Any comments?

Thanks!
JC

No clue, but when I got mine back I lost memory buttons , radio settings, and car settings.

My recent destinations were still there and I didn't have to re-pair my phone.

Oh, I lost my M1 & M2 setting too.

Sounds like we might be doing things at different speeds. I posted my test methodology as I didn't check all scenarios.
you guys are pretty much saying opposite things

I am curious about it and if anything will just re code euro mdm

By the way, it sounds like with changes to adaptive suspension, rear diff and dsc it sounds like a number of the comp pack changes are available for free

Is coding software necessary to determine the version or can it be done through iDrive?

This is interesting because I have not been following this thread and just now read it. A few weeks ago, as a result of a recurring intermittent CEL, the dealer provided the update. Took all day, and I had to reset just about everything after (radio stations, M buttons, preset buttons, etc).

I kept thinking something was wrong with the Sport+ throttle setting because it behaved a lot more like Sport on tip-in. No jerkiness whatsoever. I also thought the car seemed slower, mostly because of the lack of constant intervention. Then I read this. So there you go.

I don't feel a difference in suspension settings or ride, but I'm not super perceptive when it comes to that.

504 is the latest. The reason why ur coding wasn't deleted was because you don't have HUD. When you flash KOMBI it also deletes your previous coding.

It's the only way I've seen used/reported on here. iDrive won't tell you. Your dealer also can if you stop in.

So 58.2 was the version everyone on m3 cutters was noticing improvements. I know 58.3 was issued more recently but do we all agree 58.2 is the version, should you have it, that brings the improvements to traction? I'm asking as I will be checking my 4/23 build completed car once it arrives.

No we aren't. I'm able to do very specific things, and that's what I'm reporting. He was been restricted on other things. I haven't tried what he is doing and he hasn't tried what I'm doing. There may be circumstances that it's more permissive, and circumstances where it is not. We haven't tested everything.

I can tell you that mashing the throttle makes the DTC come in hard, but in my experience (so far) it allows controlled inputs or just tries to correct (but doesn't kill the power like it used to).

Hi, I picked up my M4 just two weeks ago at BMW Welt. The production date was 7th of April. Due to the fact that I have no comparison with older F80/82, I can not say if I have 58.x. How can we check out? I have the "new" HUD, ASD is not very loud but MDM gives no chance of power slides which were possible in my M135iX with DTC off (pressed shortly).

Do we have any evidence that these changes are real? I'm wondering if we've got a bit of placebo effect going on here. Is there a changelog somewhere that mentions these updates?

If these changes are real then great, but this sounds a bit like when people were swearing up and down that the 2016 exhaust sounded different from the 2015's.

When updated through ISTA/P at the dealer, ISTA/P backs up the profile from NBT and restores after programming so your convenience buttons and other settings stay programmed. The backup and restore is not always successful especially if programming is interrupted so that could be what is being observed here.

In terms of 58.2 vs. 58.3, I can't speak to specific differences in every car but going from 58.0 to 58.3 in my 01/16 build car only updated NBT. Older builds have reported additional modules being updated in 58.3 but I have not see conclusive evidence of this.

There are documented changes. They are listed in the CP coding thread. The differences aren't subtle.

I checked through that thread and sure there's differences in the FA coding and new verte values related to the ZCP, but where's the "documented changes"? Is there an internal BMW doc leaked out with the changelog for this update somewhere?

Most of those changes are not ZCP related. Most are updates to the 58.3. So they are there and written, hence documented. No BMW hasn't outlined their algorithms for dynamic suspension, Diff and DTC for the competition to copy.

If I go in to try and get this update and I have JB4 is that a auto warranty void? The reason I ask is because it happened to me at Audi on my old S4. Thanks

I just got my car flashed to latest and its a big difference. I can now put the power down with jb4 on lower gears. Car is a lot faster because of that. Throttle on sport+ isn't jerky anymore. I was monitoring using jb4 Bluetooth and I noticed I was hitting higher boost instantly as opposed to engine cutting power before.

Contact ddcoding, he flashed it for me remotely in 30min. No need to go to dealer and keep ur car overnight.

Definitely recommend u guys updating!!

No, you can definitely feel the difference. MDM now lets u spin more and only intervenes once u start to slide. The traction is more progressive and doesn't completely cut the power off. I can visibly see this with my jb4 connect kit. Like someone posted the sport+ throttle isn't a on/off switch anymore. It's like modulating throttle automatically now.

Out of curiosity, why wouldn't BMW throw existing owners a bone and notify us of this change and encourage that we come in?

I mean don't get me wrong, it's awesome that we can get many of the ZCP changes through simple coding, but we shouldn't have to "trick" the dealer in to doing it. Kind of insulting actually.

"If it ain't broke don't fix it"

Same goes with just about everything BMW does, especially when it comes to software.
