Some of the newer Lexus models look decent lately, however this is not one of them. The body lines don't flow at all and there are so many design cues from other manufacturers as others have mentioned. GTR, Accord coupe and that C pillar area looks to have major blind spots. Perhaps they took that from the Z4M or the Cayman. The interior seems blocky and appears cheap, though the cluster looks decent. They also are well under the modern standard with their power output. Less than 100/liter? Get with the times Lexus. Time to put some R&D funds into engine technology.
The M4's body lines are definitely more refined. Easy choice for me, though the M3 looks even better IMO. |

The Lexus snout is odd, but at least it doesn't have the horrible gash that the BMW is saddled with.
I also like the full LCD gauges in the Lexus, and wish BMW would ditch the old-school stuff. Please, no lectures about the virtues of analog gauges. I owned and raced a Porsche Cup Car and Viper Competition Coupe that had full digital displays in 2004-2006, and those were better than the analog crap, but nowhere near as good as what's available today. Otherwise, the M4 is great! |

Love that color! Love the competition. Japanese muscle more AMG than M. With that 5 Liter V8 it'll definitely have more weight up front. But damn 460hp with close to 400lb-ft of torque, it'll be a lot of fun. Lexus seriously need to update their powertrain especially their transmission arsenal. Time to bring a DCT to their lineup.
I wonder if the lessons learned from IS F CCS R will be applied to the RCF. If that is the case, this will be quite a competition. The exterior design definitely pushes the boundaries, and I like the interior of the new IS as well as the RC. BTW why are the RS cars always so late to the game. The M3/M4 is here, the next gen C Class AMG will be here in a year or so. Lexus has the RCF coming soon. By the time the next gen RS4/5 comes these cars will be in their mid cycle. Both are nice, as a BMW fan I will side with the M. We will have to let the pros take them for a drive to see which is better. I will wait until Top Gear weighs in or I will go test drive both when they come out.

Only thing I like about the Lexus is the interior door handles, so I can exit the heck out of that hideous thing quickly and int a M3.

I like it. I think it looks fantastic. It's styling is more "in your face" obviously but I think that will keep the car looking modern for its cycle, while the M4 is more subdued and I think will look dated quicker.

Am I the only one that still looks over their shoulders to merge or change lanes? Anyways, the Lexus probably has blindspot detector lol

I get it, the Norelco styled front end is polarizing. But Lexus was criticized before for having staid designs, and now they get criticized for having designs that get attention. Some people are not happy. Also, someone put up the BRZ, the only thing that the RC-F and the BRZ/FRS pictured have in common in terms of design are being painted in shades of blue and the black lower valance. Someone made a comment of how boring the Lexus center dash is, yet it has buttons all over the place. And it seems many people like buttons. But, on here many people have criticized BMW for having staid interiors, and wish that BMw would learn from Audi. One of the funniest things on here is watching how BMW owners and some so called enthusiasts literally bash the brand in one thread, praise it in another, have unrealistic expectations in another, and when a competitor comes along act like the said competitor is the Devil Incarnate compared to the car that many were "disappointed in"...it's truly something amazing to behold Nobody has asked how much the RC-F weighs, because that may play a huge factor in this game. And does it have an LSD? Remember when the IS-F first cane out, it did not...and kinda fell short. But, when it did come with an LSD it gave the M3 a run for it's money. Let's be glad that Lexus has finally shed it's wallflower image, and is stepping out with a miniskirt that gets looks, good and bad. Let's applaud her for letting her hair down. Let's applaud that 480 hp 5 liter, and them not following BMW down the path of downsizing. Just imagine the criticism on here if Lexus had a newly developed 3jz-GTE (do I hear the word "copycat"?). And let's applaud the use of "F" cues---the stacked quad exhausts, and the side vent. |

It has a busy desing but i like it more than a boring Audi RS5.
Still, i'll buy an M3 sedan over the coupe, so much better exterior wise.
