Yeah not sure what he means about drop ins unless hes just talking about sound.

I will agree with him though the Injen looks like a pretty good value. I didnt know they were under $500. Ill never be able to wrap my head around non cf 4 figure intakes.
For the looks, sound and price I think it's one of the best options .. if I were looking for the intake at reasonable price I would take injen .

Also the fit and finish of the BMS is a joke and will require tweaking and trimming to get it to fit properly, you really do get what you pay for with that one. Another key note on the BMS is the filters are heavily over oiled and will most likely require 1 or 2 MAF cleanings before it stops throwing codes. The MAF sensors are super sensitive and do not like oil on them to say the least.

look for:
102901
102E11

Give it a a couple hundred miles between cleanings and the majority of the over oiling is gone by then and you should be good to go. Also if you have access to ISDA or a dealer who is mod friendly reset the adaptations and that will help with any of the open air filter systems.

I find it funny how folks call aftermarket systems "cold air intakes". The factory intake on the F8X is pretty well designed and IS a cold air intake. Most of the offered aftermarket options are "HOT" air intakes since the suck the hot air from the engine bay

i only consider the front mount intakes as cold air and yes it's mostly for sound not performance .

A bit off topic, but I would upgrade the CAI/FMIC mainly for sound.

We're currently always reminded that the S55 doesn't sound great because of the turbos, but I feel like the wooshing noises provided by the likes of the MSR intake/the maximum psi intake create noises that are pretty awesome and give the S55 some much needed character.

Anywho, the MSR intake sounds absurdly good, but that's far too much for what it is.

You beat me to it. I was jus going to say, there is nothing "Cold Air" about an intake that houses it's filters in the open, next to the engine bay. Air intake scoops are a better investment and will direct the airflow to the air intake boxes pretty well.

I find most intakes to be a waste of money if buying simply for performance. They suck hot air from the engine bay bringing up IAT so I fail to see the benefit. If sound is what you're after I suppose they do sound ok but not my cup of tea. I had the Burger intake on my 335 and it was annoying to my ears not to mention it would sometimes result in choppy idle.

I agree and I have BMC. With that said I should have bought K&N for half the price. I've held both in my hands and the BMC are not worth double.

Look harder. The build quality of K&N is garbage compared to BMC.

Yeah there is some trimming that needs to be done behind the front bumper to fit the MaxPSI intakes.
Nothing that can be seen from the engine bay though.

Only reason I bought mine was because I stumbled across it in the members classifieds for a great price (including install).

I'm running max psi intakes, pretty much identical to the msr's without the extra price! They feel and sound amazing!

I am not sure that putting those big filters in the airflow path for the main coolant and intercooler radiators to be such a great idea.

I can understand why one would think that, but more than enough space for airflow with no problems at all

Injen has a new intake that should improve sound but keep the engine bay clean like stock, not sure if anyone has talked about this one on the forum before.
