Did some searching and can't find what I'm looking for. What is the difference? Is it a deeper exhaust note with CF tips? I ordered my car with the Competition Package, so does it come with the M Performance exhaust? It says M Sport so I am just trying to understand the difference if there is one.

Thanks.

The ZCP comes with the Sports Exhaust, which is not the same thing as the M performance exhaust.

Think of the ZCP exhaust as a nice improvement over stock, but not nearly as aggressive as the MPE.

Here's a decent comparison video:

I found this video but I was unclear on what came in the Competition Package exhaust wise. I found more online and I understand now. Kind of a wasted post and I'm sorry. Thanks for the info. Not sure I want to spend another $5k even though it sounds amazing! My wife would lynch me.

The irony is many of us felt the same way...and then we longed for the sound of an aftermarket or M Performance exhaust lol

No doubt that I want an aftermarket exhaust, I just don't want to pay $5000 for one. I will either get a Dinan or find a used M Performance exhaust.

I have the Dinan one with their Xpipe, sounds great, but the MPE is one of the best sounding ones out there. I know it's steep, but for the delta in price, it is worth it from what I've heard on my friends' rides.

Probably look into a used one.

When I had my 2017 M4 Convertible, it was stock. I found it very hard to digest a 15,000 USD for an exhaust upgrade (yes in Dubai it's 15K not 5K like you guys in the US) so I didn't do it.

Now when I upgraded to my Next 2018 M4, this time I ordered it with the MPE from the get go and I just considered it as, this is the price of the car, don't think twice...was easier to digest that way.

Let me tell you, when driving with the top down, everytime you let go off the gas and hear those burbles, but now they sound like roaring thunder due to the MPE and very loud and deep, I just can't get enough of it. no video online will convince you to get it until you hear it in person.

Turn up the volume on your computer/phone, here is a clip I made the other day in the parking lot, listen towards the end:

I believe you man. I'd love to just add it to the cost of the car but I already feel fortunate to have the opportunity to get what I'm getting. My wife has fully supported it and gave me some of her hard earned money to put down. Plus I'm already paying $58k after everything which is still a lot for a broke ass United States Army Soldier, lol. I'll have to find a used one some day.

Not to rub it in or anything, but here in Canada, the MPE with CF tips is offered as a $3800USD ($4900CAD) option when you order the car . Well worth it IMO.

No problems at all, the Sports Exhaust on the Competition Pack M4 is awesome as well. Way better than stock. You will love it and it has the burbles as well. When I had my stock 2017 M4 I hated every moment of driving it, when you're not pushing it, it sounds like a silent camry, when you push it, it sounds like a farting lawn mower, the Sports Exhaust fixed that so I am sure you will love it. the MPE can be added later at any time if and when you feel you want a bit more loudness. no rush

I plan on getting one later for sure. I like it over the Dinan.

I assume the MPE sounds the same on a CP car as a non-CP car?

no, you don't get the burbles and crackles on a non ZCP M4. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

You are correct. The overrun cracks and burbles are part of the ZCP tune. You may get a random pop here and there with the non-zcp, but certainly nothing consistent like the ZCP.

Ok thanks. Is there ANY YouTube vid that has accurate audio of the CP "cracks and burbles" sounds?

I'm debating whether to add MPE at the port to my CP M3, but I need to find a reference audio clip that is accurately depicting the differences. Most sound nothing at all like the exhaust sounds in real life.

ZCP vs MPE exhaust

Thinking of trading my 2016 non-ZCP F80 for a ZCP. I love the sound of the MPE, however. How will the ZCP sound vs the non-ZCP with an MPE? I can't option the MPE on BMW's build website with ZCP.

No video will truly give you the real sound of any exhaust vs listening to them in real life. But just to give you an idea, here's my ZCP with MPE:

And here's another comparison:

Okay thanks. I love the sound of my MPE too much. Looks like I'll have to option it once again on the ZCP. The burbles will be an interesting upgrade! It doesn't get too annoying after awhile does it?

Not at all. You only hear them when you lift your foot off the gas pedal at low speeds. The MPE does the magic. After owning it and hearing how it really is, Is never wanna drive the car without it. You can even hear it inside the cabin even with the Windows rolled up and it makes the shifts in WOT sound very sporty and loud

Is it just my vision, or is the MPE a lower profile muffler that doesn't show as much as the stock muffler? I absolutely hate the way the stock muffler sits 5 inches beneath the bumper. It's plain ugly and a bad design.
