Let's be super clear. It's 10 years from the in-service date so if you have a 2015, you really have 6-7 years left. Given how special a GT3 is (i.e. not a lease vehicle), that's really not a great length of time. Heck, my 2008 GT3 is almost a decade old, but I ain't getting rid of it anytime soon.

And Porsche "stands by it" only due to a vocal segment of forum members on rennlist. They are no angels.

991.1 GT3s are just beginning their continued drop in pricing in light of .2s being released with the legit motorsport engine:

That's a hell of an upgrade! I wanted to get into a manual 991.2 C4S, but I really need a full-sized back seat. The test drives were a blast though!

I suppose I should've been clearer - I didn't care about the automatic transmission after driving it. When I first got into the car, I thought I'd yearn for the manual as most car reviewers do, but it simply was not the case. The PDK is lightning fast (more seamless than BMW's) and my wife can easily drive it now. She even endorsed the GT3 purchase over the GTS because of the manual, as she really didn't want to learn how to drive it. While redlining the car, I simply never thought that I needed the manual to love it.

The entire story doesn't make a whole lot of sense, this gt3 decision seems like more of an emotional one than one based in reason. You wanted a manual .. ended up getting a gt3 in pdk. You went from a very usable fast car to a 2 seater with very high maintenance costs and a motor that catches on fire.... this car also prob cost north of 130k....

I hope you enjoy it but I suspect once the emotional high dies down there might be a different reality
This GT3 was 110% an emotional decision. I had lengthy discussions with my wife about how it's not going to be similar to the M3 in terms of carrying people and what not, but I eventually got her to understand that it's my dream car and that it simply doesn't make sense. We have no kids, and do have another car at our disposal for times where we need more seats. The GT3 also has a very decent warranty on it so I'm not worried about it catching fire either besides, that primarily happened in extreme heat conditions and on their older 2014 built engines, the new series engines that went into late production 2015 and 2016 cars have not had such issues.

But yeah, I wanted manual and got an automatic.. but it's the best damned automatic there currently is IMO. I am not missing a manual much, but again - the E9X M3 will be delegated to that task.

The GT3 I purchased was around 154k, whereas the white one was 139k. The major disparity is due to the number of owners and general condition of the car. White one had scuffs, dings on the paint, more worn out interior (no clue how really) so it was selling for a lot less.

But lol! I live in the Bronx so.. every area looks sketchy unfortunately rest assured, she hasn't been parked on the street longer than 15 minutes and is parked primarily in a safe location
Where in the Bronx? I'm in Country Club, haven't come across a GT3 yet in the Bronx

I'm sorry you've had such a bad experience. That hasn't been my case at all. I've owned 5, and still own 3.

A 2015 will have more likely 7-8 years of that warranty, since 2015's weren't delivered until the very end of 2014.

The 991.1 GT3 is an amazing machine. Sure the 991.2 is better, but the first version certainly is no slouch!

it is a slouch in build quality and engine provenance. has more in common with a 2015 carrera base engine.. heck go back to the 9a1 in the 997.2 carrera base. lol no danke.

LOL, go drive one on a track! See how slouchy that car is. 997 motor unless it is a turbo or GT3 is not exactly what I would call "more sound". Heck, even the Mezger motors are banned at most tracks unless you've had your coolant lines pinned or welded. I still love just about every Porsche, but calling the 991 GT3 a slouch is a first.
