I'm either a genius for this purchase or a sucker. I'll report back in 6 months to update you all ha ha

I love M cars, but decided to change it up. I'll likely jump into the new M3 when released next year.

The car is an absolute blast for a daily. 4 door sports car with a compliant ride

I'm not going to get into an M3 comparison here since there are plenty of those threads.
Good purchase! As to the new M3 future buy, I’d take a look at the new styling before you set your heart back on the M3. It’s definitely going to be an acquired taste.

Mine was used. It was bought new June 2019. My buddy had it as a trade in at his exotic car dealer. Still smells new. It's a brand new car to me.

I didn't see any new G Quad's for $56k within 500 miles of me. The only one I found was in IL, however it was crashed on the test drive - not on the carfax btw.

I've always wanted to own an Italian performance car. Passed on the F430 for an R8. Passed on the Mas GT for a 911 GTS. Fingers crossed.

I just don't think I could live with a M3 ZCP as a DD in Michigan roads. Its a harsh ride, so I'd have to drop to 18's which don't look great. So the Alfa trumped with the sports car ride but yet somehow the compliant ride.

The article kinda sums up the M3 ZCP ride to me https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...mparison-test/

Yeah, I bet BMW comes back with a better M3. As long as there is a manual, and they sort out the choppy ride I'll be doing an ED for one. Porsche and Alfa figured out the suspension, so I'm banking BMW will too.

The new grille won't bother me.

Just a head's up, since I'm in the market and cross-shopping QVs and M3s - the QVs in the $40s are mostly manufacturer buybacks. Some listing sites, including dealerships, do not clearly call that out. And some buybacks have not yet 'hit' Carfax reports. So definitely buyer beware.

Some of the unsold 2018s on lots are punched inventory. This means that sometime last year, when FCA was doing their year-end sales push, they incentivized dealers with like $10k in cash to move them. As a result, some dealers registered them as demos which have sat unsold since then. So while the mileage may be low, in some cases their warranties have already started ticking away. Not great for a new platform from an automaker with a legendary (read:infamous) reliability history.

Also, most of the 2018s have 'revised' springs due to ride height complaints from MY2017 owners who scraped the crap out of the CF splitter. As a result, Alfa raised the ride height by an entire inch! Of course that was greeted by a lot of negative feedback, so the 2019s now share the original springs from 2017s. It's a pain to swap 2018s springs at the dealer, and that's if you can find one who (1) isn't closing and (2) has done the work before.

The QV is a brilliant car, but it's important to know why the prices are represented the way they are.

How is the tuning potential on these cars? Decent aftermarket support?

In terms of resale, all of those buy backs selling at low prices will drive all the cars down. People will not feel comfortable paying top dollar for a car with a poor track record unless there is a long term all-in warranty to back it.

I’ll be interested in driving a new 2020 to see what improvements they’ve made since first introduced. That plus I just can’t see my self in the new G series M3 unless they do something with that grill.
