It comes with 3 central less bendy pieces and two lateral pieces with more "teeth" on it to allow for more flexing in the corners where it needs to contour to the lip. A set of instructions and 2 alcohol pads are included.

For the CS bumper, since we have the two "wings", which in my case are what is most likely to get damaged, I installed the lateral pieces first. The central piece needs to be trimmed because the lip is thinner than the strip, and I didn't want any pieces just hanging out with nothing to hold onto. I basically cut the strip in half lengthwise and let it stay wider towards the center. There is also the central connecting piece that connects the lip to the bumper that requires some trimming of the two central "teeth" of the strips in order to fit. Luckily the pieces easily trim with household scissors. I didn't cover the entire front shorter section of the CS bumper, mainly because the longer "wings" make it improbable that it should ever come in contact with anything. But also because I'm lazy.

Verdicts out of 10:

Install: 9 - So easy even a klutz like me can do it. Some trimming required.

Quality: 9 - Seem well made. The double sided tape is 3M and seems to stick very well.

Durability: ? - I scrape every single time I go down my driveway. I will report back.

Aesthetics: 9 - very thin, you can't see it from eye level. So long as it doesn't "shred" and have black dangly ribbons as it gets scrapped away, it's pretty invisible. I'm hoping it doesn't haze and turn white.

Functionality: ? - Time will tell!
Hi mate,

just seeing if you have any update on the durability and the ability to reduce damaging your carbon lip ?

It's only been a few hours so... not yet!

Follow up. I usually hear a grinding noise when I back out of my driveway and I didn't today. So I know at lease my lip was protected. I decided to do a test and go up and down the driveway 3 times. No grinding! That's good. Unfortunately the adhesive wasn't enough to keep keep the strips on. I pulled it off. I thoroughly cleaned and used the alcohol wipes during the install and it sat for more than 12 hrs so I'm not sure what else I could have done to keep it secured. Back to the drawing board!

In your situation where the lip will come in direct contact everyday we would recommenced using 3M adhesion promoter before install. Of course this will make it difficult to remove the lip protector if you decide down the road.

What's the removal process? Eraser pad or goo gone?

If you check back my post 11 the stuff i used has been working great. I too scrape my lip every time leaving my driveway and it has not come loose yet. The key is that its ultra thin but also very smooth in texture so its less likely to "catch" the ground and pull off.

I also think leaving it all in one piece (instead of sections) will make it less likely to come off.

I recommend you get two of these and line them up two rows together under the lip. having two lined up directly behind each other helps the front one not get pushed back enough to come loose. I have the first one lined up right at the edge of the MP lip and surprisingly that one doesn't hit the ground. Its the second one that hits all the time due to the angle of the lip. I might go back and add a third row for extra protection at some point.

I'm going to try this next! There doesn't seem to be anymore on ebay. Is this the same stuff?

helicopter skids have replaceable metal plates . I don't see why it would be so hard to attach some kind of small replaceable skid plate to the bottom of a lip

You can also heat it up with a heat gun and force it to bend to the shape of the lip if needed. Heating it also makes the adhesive bond better.

No offense to IND, but that's why I made mine smooth on the bottom, as smooth and slick as possible. A textured surface is just going to grab.

I think something that can be stuck on made with a material similar to this, may be a good option

Has anyone tried clear bra like xpel on their lips? I wonder how they hold up.

I like this option. It would be nice if it was made to fit lips vs the OEM bumper.

Don't have xpel but do have a clear bra on my bumper, it does not hold up as others have mentioned.

I have the thicker 3M film on the bottom of my Exige's carbon splitter. Have scraped it a few times. The film is scratched but still intact. Works very well for me.

Does it protect the lip from rock chips and other debris though? I can't imagine it would protect from scraping but I'm looking to wrap my lip in suntek film before install to preserve the forward face from any debris..

Yea it'll do that just fine unless you have a huge piece of debris flying at your car

I installed two, 8" strips of this material about 0.75" inward from the two furthest protruding edges of my vorsteiner lip. I don't scrape anywhere else, so no need to use more material.

I cleaned the surface religiously including giving it a sanding to even out the previous scrapes. Then heated up the surface. I followed up with heating the trim material quite extensively to the point where it was completely moldable in the x and y direction to conform to the exact shape of my lip's edge. The 3M backing at that temperature is super sticky. Apply pressure and then reheat to ensure a good bond.

I've scraped it 3 or 4 times now on concrete driveways and its holding up great. You can feel the scratches gouged into the hard plastic. The adhesive backing is holding 100%. I'd expect to be able to get one year of scraping out of it before having to remove it and put on another piece. I scrape probably once a week or so. I have about 3.5" of clearance at the front.
