M3/M4 vs. Tesla Model 3 Performance
Of course it's more than 0-60 time, which Tesla puts near 3.2 seconds (some are recording even quicker times.) However, have any of you thought about it, for the tech, alone, as a daily driver? I knew I'd miss my M3, and all the handling capability, but I'm very happy with my Tesla.
https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-mode...-price-update/ Update: A very non-technical comparison video I did on my BMW and Tesla, mostly just appearance, but hopefully this helps people who are on the fence. If able, please subscribe to the YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/M3rewards and comment, thanks! |

It was overpriced when originally announced, but after the recent decrease in base price by $14K, I would definitely be more apt to consider one.
Still not totally clear what you get for that $11k premium over the non-Performance dual-motor model ("Additional upgrades, exclusive to Performance"), but at any rate, a $64k base price for a 3.5s 0-60 seems reasonable. |

My personal thoughts on that are that if it doesn't sound like an NA V8 or V12, it might just as well not make any sound. Not that other types of engines can't or don't sound ok, its just that I could take it or leave it at that point.

I'm personally holding off for a bit until the build quality is more of a known factor. I'm not entirely comfortable with a rush job assembly in a tent for a $64+k car
Besides, Jaguar iPace is very interesting to me, as is the upcoming Porsche Taycan. Nothing to lose by waiting a bit longer |

Can't deal with that interior and the car has no soul. For strictly a commuter, maybe, but the value proposition isn't there for that purpose alone.

Agree on the interior, needs improvement/more options, as for soul, have you driven one? I have (base not performance) and it definitely has soul (to me) and is very very fun to drive. If you equate soul with sound and rigid feel, then I totally get it. It's a very subjective thing and not everyone will get the same emotions. Idk if I want to make the jump to electric yet, but the future is bright!

I equate soul to a combination of heritage, driving dynamics, pure performance, quality, and a willingness to be pushed. It's a hard thing to adequately quantify.

Having investigated a bit more, it appears the $11k is just for the load tested motor, performance oriented software (including a higher top speed), and the ability to option other P-exclusive content if desired. https://www.model3ownersclub.com/thr...32#post-118056 https://www.model3ownersclub.com/thr...33#post-118573 |

Like I said in my previous post, it’s just the hand picked motor and software, or so it appears at the moment unless new information comes to light. |

Comparing a Tesla with a BMW can not just be limited to 0 - 60 mph figures.
I mean, did you see the Model 3? Did you see how the panels and trims are misaligned? It's like a Mazda 3 with an electric motor and the build quality of a 1990 Kia. Even a Model S has poor quality of assembly. |
