VRFS Intake Issues - Stuttering Sound

Hey Guys,

I just had the VRFS intake installed on my car a week or two back.

The intake sounds normal when I'm driving casually. Makes an amazing suction sound. However, when I go heavy on the throttle, the suction sounds like its stuttering. Almost like it's struggling to take in air. I am able to recreate this sound every time I push the car hard.

Anyone have this experience? What could this possible be? I have no active codes

If it can be described as a "F-F-F-F-F-F-F" kind of sound, I've had that in the past as well as several others even with stock intakes and nobody's figured out what causes it yet. I had it consistently for a couple of weeks then it was gone. There was never any other symptom besides the noise which makes me guess that it's normal even if it doesn't happen often.

That's the exact sound...... Glad someone was able to related to it. It's a bit annoying BUT as long as it's not a cause for concern (hopefully?) I can live with it for now

Can anyone think of a possible fix for this? There has to be a reason why it's making the sound. It destroys the whole experience of driving the car :/

Once again, it’s normal. Unless you want your car to run improperly, just enjoy the intakes.

Here’s a message I received about this exact issue from Halim who is a master tuner for our cars:

Halim Cazimi commented:

That’s the intakes making the sound. Very normal on such intakes.

If you’re worried about the sound, get rid of the intakes.

Not that I don't trust Halim, but I'd already emailed Kratos...

Me
"When you have under hood cone intakes on a S55 motor and stop the gas pedal a "F-F-F-F-F-F" sucking sound seems to come from the turbos back through the intakes. To my ear it seems to correlate to boost building. What makes this sound?"

Kratos
"You are correct, that is the sound of the turbos building boost. The sound is normally muffled with stock turbos when running stock intakes and filters. However, the sound gets exponentially louder when larger turbos are installed."

(So like Halim said, if you don't like it put your stockers back on.)

Thanks for the feedback, I'll just keep them on for a couple of weeks and if it still bothers me, I'll throw the stock filters back on. Appreciate the insight
