Accident - Frame damage?

Was at a stop sign when a car lost control in the rain and hit the driver side of my car. It hit the pillar between the doors and was wondering if anyone can give their opinion on if there is frame damage. Would want to have the car totaled rather than fixed but I think the only way that happens is if the frame is damaged. Pics attached.

Sorry to hear but your vehicle is totaled once airbag is deployed. Glad you're ok.

As a fellow Austinite, I’m very sorry to hear about your accident. I’m afraid it is a total loss but glad you’re ok. Hopefully you can replace with another F80!

Airbag deployment does not automatically make it totaled. Your insurance will use a total loss formula to calculate if it's more cost effective to repair or total the vehicle. The formula is determined on your area as the percentages and rules vary state to state.

Sorry to hear about your accident, but glad to hear you're ok. Hope it all works out for the best.

Came here to say the same thing. Totally dependent on your state for it to be a total loss. Some states are 100% of the value of the vehicle to be deemed totalled, etc.

Edit: I got curious and looks like TX is a 100% state where damage has to be 100% of the vehicles ACV.

Airbag deployment does not automatically mean it is totaled. If the frame is bent or damage exceeds 60%, NY will deem it a total loss. I think the the percentage has changed due to parts being expensive and hard to acquire recently.

Glad you're ok.

Man that's tough! I hope the insurance company treats you well either way. Best of luck.

It’s most likely totaled. Let me know what the insurance company offers to pay you out. I might be able to beat it. I buy and rebuild damaged cars

Doubt it's totaled. Would depend on year and the current market value. If there's no frame damage, looks to be a couple doors and airbags. Curious about the outcome. Keep us posted.

I'll have to try and remember this post if I am ever in the unfortunate situation of needing your services...

Insurance just took it for inspection so will let you guys know what they say in a few days. In case they want to repair it, any chance I can push them to total it? I have gap coverage so technically they can offer me less for total loss and my gap coverage will cover the remaining balance. Bought this during the height of car prices so I doubt they will offer what is left on the loan.

If it's not totaled, make sure you make diminished value and loss of use claims.

They put $31k salvage value. I have rims and tires and a skid plate if anyone is interested. Might have to leave the F80 platform 😔

They are only giving you 31k? For a 2018 Comp? How many miles does the car have on it?

That seems a bit low, unless salvage value is different than the insurance payout?

Either way, I am bummed for you man. Good luck with whatever you get into next...

They will give me more. 31k is if I wanted to buy it back from them.

OOOF!!!

A day late and a dollar short, but sorry to see. Glad youre ok.

Also in Austin area, these people make me nervous. Especially on the roads where the limit is 85. Probably because where I came from the limit is usually 65. Im content with 85 most times but I think Im adapting lol.

Stepping away from F80 you say? G80 coming in hot!

Not here to say that it's totaled but my aunt has been in the auto repair industry and about a decade ago, i had someone back into my car door+frame dmg. she had her shop total loss the car and did tell me door dmg reduces the resale value substantially. On top of the airbags going off, might not look good
