Tail lights on F3x and F8x were outdated before they released it. I'm not sure why the DTM racing version actually has nicer taillights and headlights than mass produced models. It doesn't make any sense, nobody cares about the style/appearance on pro competitive racing.

M cars' front end never get a face lift i.e. E46 and E9x. The rear end does receive the LCI tail lamps but from the latest spy shots...the LCI F30 isn't going to receive a change in tail lights. If that is the case then the exterior and probably most of the interior will be the same for the entire M3 production. Not sure about the M4.

Except small software updates etc, I wouldn't expect too much from these FL. M3 was already reported not to FL till EOP? Also as it has the same front fascia as the 4 series, this won't get updated so quickly as the 3.

Furthermore, for the F30/F80 and unlike the E90, the shape of the rear tail lights will not change so there will be very little in the way of exterior change from a pre and post LCI M3. Spy shots suggest that there will even be minimal (or possibly or zero) changes to the lighting element layout and makeup of the tail light itself. |

honestly, I don't see how they could change the tail lights and not switch to LED's. I don't care what people have and haven't seen in spy photos. there would just be no point in updating the tail lights but not upgrading to LED's like the rest of the model range.

Well, maybe they won't change the tail lights at all, like they didn't for the X3 (F25). Would be pretty annoying, but it's possible and I actually believe more and more that they'll keep the lights...

If you're in the market for one, 1+ years of waiting isn't justified for some led taillights. Otherwise, I'd check in with @Scott26 to give us some insider opinion on this!

So, what you are telling us is that there will be no LCI? |

For example, you may recall that the E90 3/M3 LCI ushered the change from the CCC iDrive to CIC iDrive. This was a significant improvement that makes pre-09 cars less desirable than their younger counterparts today. I'm not saying we'll see that type of evolution again, though there has been rumors about Apple CarPlay. Then there were some less important things like the removal of the cooled cup holder in the armrest, which was probably due to the fact that this was best classified as a cheesy gimmick to begin with. Other changes that the E90 LCI brought were an adjustment to the location of the window switches on the driver's door armrest to make them easier to reach and exterior color changes. For the M3, the color changes included Space Gray replacing Sparkling Graphite - a direct result of the same update to the E90 3 Series - and the addition of LeMans Blue. And by the way, that color was added to the E92/E93 at the same time and so was the new iDrive. So the take-away there is that the sedan/touring LCI can also impact the coupe/convertible (and the opposite is true as well). |

And in repeating itself I am sure the M3/M4 variants will see little changes as compared to the F30/F32. As for competition package, I wouldn't expect it so soon. Probably MY17 or 18.

to beat a dead horse, I hope they do something about roof rack mounts for CF roofs. I couldn't care less about the other stuff but LED taillights would be a nice to have.

You're absolutely right, but I am not jumping up an down excited for my f80 yet. I'm still kind of on the fence. I need a reeeeally good deal to get me to sign now. If not, LCI it is. Not waiting for the comp pack. Had it on my e92 and could easily do without. It's nice to have, but not worth waiting a year IMO. I wouldn't mind driving my xDrive 335i through this winter, if I'm being honest. We'll see. |

You should probably wait especially if you are not very excited. Reeeeeally good deals are not too common right now unless you get a lot car and have other tricks up your sleeve. Good luck.

So, after the previous LCI F30 test cars still had the old tail lights, many thought there won't be new tail light design with full LED (just like the X3 F25 LCI kept the old tail lights).
But it seems that they definitely will bring full LED tail lights for the LCI model of the 3 series. Since I never buy first year production models, I'm waiting for the 2016 model and I hope they will bring the new tail lights for the F80 at the same time. |

I agree with you but i'm not sure why people get so hung up on LED's. I think the current tail lights look fantastic! Especially on the road at night. I'm thinking more of the front grill refresh, iDrive updates, cluster and dash updates, new colors ... |
