That logic goes out the window when you look at the 2013 and 2014 M5. One year run with the pre-LCI and then it got the changes for the 2014 MY.

I was going to wait for the '16 and hope for LCI, but life is short, and I'd rather be enjoying my car sooner, rather than later. With the typical 7 year run, there will be a lot of changes my car won't have when the 2022's hit the road.

The "latest" is really just the here and now.

The F80 has a totally different cluster, so I don't think there will be any changes. I guess the F80 will have only changes for parts which both models (F30 and F80) have in common. Since the F80 has the front of the F32 and not of the F30, there won't be a new grill (don't know if the F30 LCI will have something new there anyway).

I don't say the full LED tail lights are a deal breaker for me, but I definitely prefer this technique (for example, I like the full LED tail lights of the E92 a lot more than the pre LCI version).

Buy it. My friends who are waiting for a LCI release are tortured with a) not having the car they really want b) the uncertainty of what the LCI means c) out right jealousy for those who are driving and enjoying the M3/4

No. At least not with the F80 LCI. It could happen with the F82 LCI although it could come before then too.

Past discussion:

Perfect. Thanks.

That's my problem. I don't "really want" an f80 yet. I'm already driving a car that I really wanted. F80 is growing on me though. I would be buying it now mainly to take advantage of the holiday incentives and end of year aggressive pricing.

As far as jealousy, yes. It is there and very much so.

Traditionally, do the options on the LCI model end up costing more? Maybe excluding things as nav and carbon fiber trim as standard? Or charging separately for many options included now as part of the executive package?

No, not usually. And de-bundling options is usually a good thing, as the "packages" typically don't save a lot of money.

if anything, more comes standard, albeit with an increased base price. For instance, on the 5 series, Nav became standard, although the base price increased about $1,500. Which was still cheaper than Nav alone, which was either $1,800 or $2,000.

But no, they don't end up de-contenting later on, historically. Sometimes, though, some options disappear, stand alone options might get bundled up, bundled options might become stand alone, etc. You never know with BMW.

Unlikely.

The M5 pre-LCI (2013) did not have an LED headlight option at all. 2014 LCI brought LED headlights to all the F10 5 series cars. If the M3 LED housings were going to be dark, they would have been from the outset, as the M4's were. No, those should stay as is.

List of F10 M5 LCI changes: http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=842222

Of the items here, the M3 / M4 already have the M Steering wheel that the F10 got. Already have the M double slat grilles that the F10 got.

There are other items that are not M specific that the F10 got, like the updated iDrive controller and rear taillights.

Speaking of colors, if they add a new color, they could remove one of the currently available colors on the other side. What do you guys think which color is the favorite to be removed? I just hope it's not gonna be Silverstone since this is the color I currently prefer regarding my order next year.

SSII seems to be a staple for M's I wouldn't worry about that going away anytime soon on the M3/4

Yes, this would be my first pick as well. But then again, Mineral Gray is selling pretty good so far.

I think it will be AW... I think they have already hit their white car build quota.

As long as there are buyers in the southern USA, they will NEVER hit the white car quota.......ever.

(FWIW, I think they probably phase out AY and YMB first - they were special 'launch' colours and keeping them for launch year only identifies those cars/drivers as keeners.)
