Speaking of looking good...

Only a few images leaked out but they look impressive, interior IMO looks stunning. A lot of unanswered questions on engine, trans, weight, etc., but this has my attention (never would have said that about a Merc before.)

Looks like a baby new S class, which is not a bad thing. Hopefully after they give it the AMG treatment it will look more agressive. I do like what BMW is doing with the F80 exterior design--CF roof, wider track with flared fenders, agressive hood, etc...

It was once sacrilegious for BMW to have turbos, but here we are. It was once sacrilegious for BMW not to have a manual gearbox, but the next M5 will not have one.

I think as power continue to increase north of 500+ hp, it just makes more sense to have AWD and this BMW sacrilegiousness will fall by the wayside as well. I'm not sure there's anything sacrilegious at BMW anymore.

As a Canadian resident, it may make more sense to get AWD as a better year-round car. And if the AWD weight penalty is not that great (as has been reported by MB), all the better.

new leaked images of the exterior and interior:

Love the interior and grill (the version on jalopnik). Guessing that may be AMG version?

Starting to make me re-think my F80 order....but doesn't seem as aggressive and sporty as the M3. AWD and 450+hp are always nice though

There are some European leaks on the MB forums that indicate that the C55 (which is what it might be called, even though it is a 4.0 liter V8) will use a DCT transmission from ZF which is the same place BMW gets their 7-speed.

No question the power will be there as the 4.0 liter V8 is actually just two of the CLA45's engines (2 liter, 4cyl) "fused" together. Remember, the CLA45 makes 355hp/332ft/lb....just with 2 liters! Now I am sure we won't see double that output but is there any doubt this car will not make significantly more power than the 3.0 turbo 6 in the M3? There is no replacement for displacement....especially for displacement used so efficiently as the CLA45. 2 liter making 355hp?!

Quite a mill, for sure. But the i8's 1.5L 3 cylinder puts out 231 hp, which is no slouch. Double that for the M3/4 and you've got 462, if my math is right. Torque is 236 lb. ft. Of course the i8 has an electric motor to make sure there is no hole at the bottom with a big turbo.

Traditionally Mercedes has been much less competitive on leases. They certainly were for the C63.
