Misfires 4-6 drivetrain malfunction
Well this sucks.. car was warmed up, gave it half throttle and immediately got a drivetrain malfunction light. At first, it showed a cyl 5 misfire code. After driving it home a few miles, and got the below codes.
Its running like crap and smells horrid. Car has a DP, and MHD e85 tune. 65k miles on the odometer. Plugs were replaced 300 miles ago. Any ideas? Last edited by m4dbimmer; 10-22-2019 at 07:55 AM.. |

Thanks. Actually been running this tune for a few thousand miles with no issues. Wondering if it's a coil, since it first showed misfire on cylinder 5. After sever restarts, the codes persist. Idle is very rough, and exhaust smell is pretty bad. Seems like a hardware issue.

Interesting that the three cylinders are sequential. I just noticed that and wonder if that's the clue. I'm not sure how spark is controlled on this engine. It isn't going to be an O² sensor.

It appears I had that backwards. Firing is odds and evens, exhaust is sequential. Most likely is the O² sensor.

Thanks everyone. Going to try the coil first and will report back. Also got an injector just in case. O2 sensor if that doesn't work.. if none of those work I'm going to drive it into the lake.

ISTA can run test on injectors and maybe O2 sensors too. So you dont have to waste money and time. Can you bring the car to dealership for diagnosis? |

Problem solved.. it was an INJECTOR! Lake avoided.
Recap of symptoms: after a light pull the car stumbled and began flashing the check engine light. Power was minimal, and engine was struggling/shaking. Idle was very rough and it started to smell like burning plastic. First code was cylinder 5 misfire, then after 4 miles of driving the codes expanded to cylinder 4 5 6 misfires (see first post). Checked park plug in cylinder 5 and it was completely soaked with fuel. Last edited by m4dbimmer; 11-19-2019 at 08:50 PM.. |

I'm told injectors for S55 engine do not need coding, but I recently replaced one of my injectors and getting code 112601 (control line interruption for the cylinder with the new injector) along with drivetrain malfunction message. |

I don't think it was a true oem, but looked just like it - here's the one I bought. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07RDH3XP8?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title No coding required, just plugged it in and reset codes and adaptations. |

Yes. F80/F82 and F83 all use the same DME
