Getting passenger side airbag error code after radar was hardwired
My M4 was working flawless until I got my V1 hardwired. In the process of getting it hardwired the guy accidentally pulled the wrong wire so now I am getting a passenger side airbag error sign that is permanent. How do I get this resolved since everything else works fine? and if I take it to the dealership what do I need to tell them so they don't charge me for a service visit? One bullshit dealership wanted to charge $135 to resolve this problem. Thanks

Not sure there's an easy way around this. It's an airbag. If there's 2 things you don't f*ck with, I'm pretty sure they are 1) women and 2) airbags.
Just get it fixed. What's $135 in the face of an airbag that doesn't go off when it should. Sorry this happened, it sux. For me it falls into category of you paying them $1 for the visit and $134 for them knowing how to fix it, and troubleshoot the entire system to make sure it didn't lock out other airbags.

Last time I checked, airbags are pretty important. I would go through everything step by step and get it fixed. Whether you do it or the dealer, it needs to be addressed.

I also had this happen by pulling air bag cable from dome light unit.
My local performance shop (european auto source) was able to clear the code for free. |

I agree 100% that it needs fixed by the dealership correctly! I am not going to mess around with an airbag issue. Just pissed this dealership wanted to charge me out of pocket when i doubt it will be more than 5 minutes of their time and they could have charged bmw under the warranty to keep me a happy customer. If they are sticklers about an airbag fuse i can only imagine what a ecu tune would do.

I agree with you. Just never assume it's a code that needs clearing, because occasionally it's something else. Regarding the dealership you can always walk and go somewhere else who'd be happy to get to service your car over its lifetime.

There's nothing bullshit about a dealer charging you (likely an hour labor in this case) to resolve this issue. What's bullshit is that your installer isn't flipping the bill for you as it was his mistake that caused the problem that you were hoping that the dealership would fix on their own dime.

Man. You think it's bullshit for a dealer to charge their time for fixing a problem you/your installer created? Instead of complaining about your service center, complain about your installer that pulled the wrong wire and created this problem for you.
I think you have the blame misplaced in this situation. As the saying goes, if you want it done right, do it yourself.
