It does look good. Almost like an interative of an F80. How did BMW go so wrong when their own enthusiasts are complimenting Cadilacs 😂

I hope that one day people will realize how stupid social media really is. It's just a toxic marketing/targeting tool that lets any fool have a voice.

In the example above, BMW asked a dumb question and it got dumb answers

Yup. Ive realized since it's inception. Never had and never will have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc etc....This is my only "social media". An anonymous BMW car forum.

Why people put their lives online is beyond me. Watching BMW backtrack from their ridiculous posts lately has been very entertaining.

Cool video, except for the trying to pretend it’s a manual part.

What I don't understand is why he's shifting the DCT like it's a manual.

yw! lol

completely agree and also don't use fb, twitter or insta. I think many so called friendships are ending at an exponential rate. and when folks combine some alcohol or other substances with their views, things get out of control quickly. It is more valuable to me to have a few dependable friends and they know how to reach me.

Totally off topic, but this is actually not as obvious as it seems.... when I first tried a DCT after 25 years of driving manual only, I expected that I would typically prefer to drive it using the '+/-' of the selector lever rather than the paddles. This is totally feasible with the DCT (given the responsiveness of the shifts and the short-throw of the lever), and quite reminiscent of many of the sequential manual gearboxes used in rallying and motor-racing.

Now I 100% prefer using the paddles... but I do still initiate every gear change manually. For me, choosing *when* to shift is the important factor, and no fully auto box does a good enough job of that yet, regardless of how 'fast' they are.

...and that's probably my personal deal-breaker for G8x. (I care more about the transmission than the aesthetics)

More often than not. They also subjectively assume it’s got emasculating properties coupled with a mysteriously invisible torque converter. These Neolithic and primitive assertions guised with jest are equaled in ignorance when a slower sports car is better because a foot depresses a piece of metal whilst the hand moves a rod. Quite the impressive display of IQ and moreover real barometer of testosterone...

I’d wager the vast majority do. And when they don’t, most use the paddles. I believe there was a poll here a few years ago. Even among enthusiasts, I believe this was true.

I wasn’t saying people don’t, I just thought it was humorous that the video seemed to be trying to make it look like it was a manual.
