Tall person issue - can't see tachs

I'm 6'2", and I'm struggling to find comfortable seating position in M3. I have seat and steering wheel at lowest height. Unfortunately the steering wheel blocks the tachs (see image). Only complaint about car, anyone else?

I had this issue too. Only way is to adjust the steering wheel, but it comes to a point where it was too high for me. The comfort wasn't worth the visual.

Looks like you'll need to buy the M Performance wheel with the built in tach lights

I'm 6' 3" and was able to get the wheel up high enough to see the tach/speedo but had to sacrifice seeing the odo. I assume you've adjusted it as high as it can go?

Ok - luckily I have HUD, otherwise I'd be screwed.

6'3" here

Lower the seat as low as it will go, set the fore-aft rake to maximum negative setting (so your butt is lower than your knees), and raise the steering wheel.

I don't know why you'd set the wheel as low as it would go - it should be set so you can see the tach/speedo. I think mine is about 3/4ths of the way between the bottom and the top.

LOL no wonder you can't see shit if you're this tall (honestly, you're not THAT tall) and have the steering wheel at the lowest position. This is not the correct driving position as you've got less control over the vehicle when sat improperly. Move your damn steering wheel up, boy!

Here's how you do it:

Seat:
When you put your wrists on top of the steering wheel, your shoulders should still make contact with the backrest. Butt lower than knees.

Steering wheel:
Put your hands at the 9/3 position, they should be roughly at the same level as your shoulders with elbows creating a circa 90-degree angle.

There's videos on youtube.

To give you an idea:

I'm 6'2 with longer legs (34 length jeans) and I have the seat as low as possible with the steering wheel all the way up and all the way towards me. It could be slightly further away, but I like it very close to me. I can see everything very well except the odometer - but that doesn't matter.

OP, I don't want to insult your intelligence but it may likely be, as others have suggested, that your positioning is suboptimal. There's a great video on YouTube of Chris Harris instructing viewers on propper positioning. What we prefer for comfort is some times at odds with what is recommended best practice for car control.

This steering wheel is not everyone's taste, but I think it might help in your case

No offense to the OP, but you are sitting in your M3 like it's an SUV.
I'm 6'1" and I had absolutely zero issues with visibility.

Lower the seat all the way down, adjust the back any way you want and raise the steering wheel up.

Good luck!

Lol the fighter jet one is also cool but not very practical.

I’m 6’3 and i drop my wheel all the way down and just recline the seat back more and can see most of the gauges. The butt of the seat is lowered all the way though.

Maybe try lowering the seat? No way that is all the way down. Or just raise the steering wheel up, no way is this a problem across the board.

I'm 6'4 and set it up this way too. Also, this is the most comfortable position during my 2 1/2 hour commute.

My previous car was a Lexus RX, so maybe I have settings like an SUV...I will adjust

Thanks for this - I always felt high steering strained shoulders but I'll see if I can get use to this position.

I'm nearly 6'5 and have no idea what's going on in this thread. I've seen the guages and never had a problem since the first test drive lol.

Your seat has to be sitting way too high, I have mine on the floor and there's tons of head room. From your picture it's pretty clear you need to adjust your steering wheel up.

Like others have said correct your driving position, I’m 6’2” and with the correct position I can see the entire dash except the bottom part where the odometer is. I can live with that.
